NLVMAX'S Nytro SE Garage: Mod Update

X2 on miserable, it's easier tho with the battery relocation, but still miserable :-(

Jasus!

I just went out to wire in my new taillight. Tried to start the sled to test which wire was which and I had left the key on after my little ride on Sunday. Battery dead, hopefully it recovers.

Yeah I've been doing all those things I was just curious as to how NLVMAX torqued the filter to 12 ft lbs since he specifically mentioned it in his post.

He simply used his 12 inch pythons :tg: jk guys :hide:

I included the torque number for reference in case anyone was interested. I torque everything on my sled to spec but with the oil filter I used the above method as NyTroMaNIac suggested.

It doesn't take much to reach 12ft lbs. When you torque the drain bolt(oil tank) at 11 you realize that pretty fast. You hardly turn it and it's done. Basically you tighten the oil filter with your hand as rxrider mentioned. Also, if you want go 1/4 to 1/2 turn extra with the filter wrench. That is what I do. I apply the same technique for automobiles.

;)!

No problem to get the torque key as well as the purpose made Yamaha tool to fit...

Thanks Alatalo good info to have here.

My next thing to do on the sled is install my hitch on the extension from Ulmer. Looked at it briefly and noticed it will require some modification. The problem is where it bolts on to the tunnel cap. Post info later.

Hitch installed again, this time on the tunnel extension from Ulmer. Made it work and happy with how it turned out.

Hitch installed on tunnel extension.

As you can see there are minor differences but same results, a working hitch.

I drilled new bumper holes to accommodate the hitch. Filled original holes with large rivets and washers. The angle is different where it bolts(4) on to the new tunnel cap compared to the stock cap hence the extra holes . The hitch was designed for a stock Nytro so I new it wouldn't fit without a couple changes.

Reinforcement plate riveted on after I opened the angle to fit up under the new extension. I done this by putting it in a vise and bending it to the correct angle. Small adjustments at a time.

Fantastic job. I read every bit and was inticed every minute. Great info for those like me that want to mod their Nytro.

Keep up the good work.

I'm Jealous. Just ordered a 144 extension for my Apex from Muffin Works. The way the snow is here in CBS I will have lots of time to install it.

The worst thing about the thread is that this is the last page!!!! (for now anyways)
That was like reading a great book, i couldn't stop reading it...absolutely informative and great job NL. Hats off too you. ;)!

I want to install an extension also and I have the same hitch as you on my nytro. Did you have any problem so far with stress on the tunel extension cause by the hitch? Did the Intense track work better then the stock one? What track did you install with the extension?
