Oil Change Access

Can any one comment on the size of the access cover? Can it be slightly smaller and still get the filter in or out when doing an oil change?

Your going to come out with a skid plate right after i buy one, aren't you? Lol

Mountaintech here are some pics for you.

Cool, the present access cover is quite large. Wondering how much smaller it can be to still have adequate access. Filter has to be able to come in and out. Is there access to a drain bolt in the engine sump?

I cut a hole in my skid plate to access the oil filter and drain plug. Very solid should still hold up well for my annual oil change.

Drain is the little Allen head right behind filter.

I used a brand new razor blade in a utility blade and where the plastic takes a dip I heated the blade up just enough to cut through the curved parts.

Awesome job!!! Should make a template that we can print and do the same thing. I want to hole saw a drain hole for the tank... draining the tank is always a fricken mess.

He said he could see where the stock plate bolts rubbed the added skid. Obviously his was used. I plan to take mine and mount it on sled then give it a wack with rubber hammer right where stock bolts are. Hoping they make some marks. Then just do as he said. Remove both skids, line up holes from stock skid, trace around it,cut it out using a heated razor blade to start and possibly finish cut. The simplest Yamaha oil change just got much easier. This is the stuff that makes this site awesome!
