This is cut open. you can see the bearing. I know its small and hard to see. but once you get it off the sled it will make more sense.

You guys must have a lot of moisture in the air, we are really dry here in Colorado and I have never seen that kind of freezing. Of course our snow is all powder.

Got the oil separator off. Now just need to try to get it apart without ruining anything. I can tell by shaking it that there's nothing inside however

I don't think you want to take it apart. Just clean it out really good and let it dry and put it back. There shouldn't be anything in there, cause it's September and it sat all summer with no snow around...lol...just clean it out and put it back.

Thanks Tim just got this..guess I should've checked it 20 mins ago lol. I put pictures and a write up on the viper Facebook page for anyone to check out if they want. Will work on getting it all transferred to this site sometime

yeah its not meant to come apart, from what i can gather the only way to clean is to more less "flush it out" with brake cleaner/parts cleaner, am i right? flush it out really well then rinse it out and let it dry before re-installing ?

Yes that is correct! Easy thing to do! But it's also a very easy thing to forget until it happens!! So try not to forget!

agreed, i mentioned having it stickied over in the facts thread... i see that hasn't happened yet but I'm sure it will. as i said before if failure of this separator leeds to leaking out 2 quarts or more in seconds like happened to you, this will have to become routine preventative maintenance for us. That facts sticky is great, like a second owners manual lol

Its stickied in the facts thread. Studroes did a nice job on facebook but majority of sleds are not turbo so could still use a How to for NA guys.

I have the same picture in this tread. One on this page and one on the 3rd page. Kind of small but you can see the black box we are talking about. But this for a turbo MPI sled.

It seems that MPI with there trail kit has fixed the problem, by running the bypass hose back through the turbo. So at least on the trail turbo guys won't have to worry about this.
