You do not need to machine your clutch to run the 8dn. Some do to get more adjustment but it is not "required" to run the 8dn.
Understood. Iam just curious as to where exactly Ulmer machines to get the extra adjustment.

When you guys installed your adjusters does your secondary still float once you have your desired belt height all adjusted? I installed mine and once everything's tight the secondary has no floating at all, but I don't know if this is normal once the belt and everything's installed? It seems like it should be good since your tightening the adjuster into the clutch, there were no instructions with the adjust but seemed straight forward. I just want to make sure everything's good to go.
Thanks Guys

Normal. Once the secondary opens a little the float is restored. When you guys installed your adjusters does your secondary still float once you have your desired belt height all adjusted? Alright sounds good thanks a lot!!
Yup works great after 300 miles belt is riding just over top of secondary sheaves with 8 JP going to try the 8 dn on Monday

X2....Once the helix starts to open the clutch sheaves there will be plenty of float. This is fine since you do not need the float at idle.
This tool is awesome! I had a very slight belt squeal during my weekend trip and I made a half turn adjustment right on the side if the trail in about a minute. Try pulling your secondary and swapping around shim washers on the side of the trail in a minute. Every Viper owner should have this tool!

Hey guys, has anyone been having any issues? I installed mine and everything was good set my belt deflection, rode the sled for 300km and all was good then I started getting a bad rattling noise when cruising at low speeds and engine rpm about 4500. Anyway sleds at the dealer and I had explained how this works that there is no float when idling and how there is float when the belt drops down into the secondary. The dealership was telling me the rattling I am hearing is because the secondary doesn't have enough float and it's causing a bind with the primary clutch. When they run the sled on the stand with belt the noise is there when they remove the belt the noise is gone so they are thinking it has to do with secondary not having enough float, they are going to pull the adjuster and put secondary back to stock and run it to see if rattling is still there. The sled only sounds really bad when cruising at low speeds, once going fast enough the noise is no longer there.

I put about 300 miles on mine and I did not hear any rattling noises from the clutch. However I also put an MBRP race can on my sled so that is really all I can hear. LOL!
Once the helix starts to get pushed in when the sheaves are spreading the OSP tool is not touching anything and the float should be the same as the OEM set-up.
I am thinking that perhaps the black cupped plate on the OSP tool may be rattling because it has no pressure against it once the secondary clutch starts opening.
Please let us know what the dealer finds.

Over 1000mi on mine no issues. Have them check your jackshaft bearing or could be the belt itself.

Just installed mine tonight, just want to be sure... Does the washer behind the secondary stay or go? No mention in the vid

Great thanks, can't get the belt adjusted to the tight height on the secondary without it creeping, new stock belt not 8dn, COTC kit on its way with 8dn

8jp is always lower in secondary than 8dn so normal.
