Last longer because it’s stronger, bigger, tougher it might break when it wears out, you have to check when you run big HPHow long before the towers break if the cover cracks like that ? Lol & that clutch looks new compared to the Yamaha clutches pictured .

But it doesn't if the cover is cracked on what looks to be new clutch compared to a clutch with 7300 miles on it minus rollers which is why the clutch broke in the first placeLast longer because it’s stronger, bigger, tougher it might break when it wears out, you have to check when you run big HP

I think we hear a lot less about Cat clutches and belt breaking because they are used to that. If you look at the picture with the Tream clutch higher, why wasting money on a belly pan protector if they are not blowing belts and they are so good. Like I said earlier, I broke 2x 200$ Cat belts at 1400km each at part throttle only about 90km/h.

I would love to see sales figures for Team equipped 998's vs Yamaha equipped 998's. There are way more Sidewinders on the trail where I ride compared to the Cat version.
I can't help but wonder if we hear more about the Y clutch issues because there are a lot more of them out there.

All you have to do is look at a team and Yamaha side by side. The Yamaha clutch is lacking. Yamaha seems to work good but their flying apart like crazy. The material where the arms attach to is just not strong enough .

True you can’t run them with high HP for 7300 miles and expect them not to wear out, have to serviceBut it doesn't if the cover is cracked on what looks to be new clutch compared to a clutch with 7300 miles on it minus rollers which is why the clutch broke in the first place

Rollers on the Yamaha is not always the cause .
Looks like rollers may be the biggest culprit so far. That about right?

How many stock clutches on stock Winders have had this type of failure? Have there been any?

I am over 800km and running stock Y clutching and original belt and stock muffler with TD SM tune bundle. No to studs as well. I have no evidence of Wear other than belt dust on side panel. WOT (91 octane)on SM ecotrail 164km/h on GPS .loose snow, primary clutch pretty warm but not hot. Gonna run SM powertrail this weekend on 93 octane with same setup on same trail for comparison.
No twists or tears in belt.
I ride hard and unlike most people here I am trying to blow a belt on stock setup with TD tune but so far it’s no dice. Sled is kept indoors all year if that matters.
