Looking good Jan-Ove.... I'm REALLY looking forward to see how your sled rides this winter...My plans suddenly changed ALOT, so I'll have to see what to do this winter...Your sled will help me make up my mind....I need to come over to have a close up look at it....I'll never do all the stuff you've done, but I've got some plans... I'm moving back home in two weeks, so things will turn for the better....Atleast I hope...
This season will be interesting for SURE!!! Your sled and your frineds sled will be the ones to beat...I saw snow today for the first time in months...On the tops over Sennalandet, it was WHITE!!!! YEEEEHAW

UPDATE August 31. - Working on the tank covling.....
After finishing the molding process it was time to grind down the imprefections from the molding process and getting it ready for adding some fiber glass spatula to it before the final shaping of the tank covling.
My friends RX-1 with a MCX rearmount and a REV gas tank installed .... LOL ... just kidding.
The tank covling is at my friends garage for the final adding of spatula, last grinding to make the surface ready for adding of primer and the first layer of paint.

UPDATE September 1. - Miscellaneous
Did a few minor things on the sled today. Changed out a few more rivets which were loose and had to be replaces.
Drilled out a four more holes in the frame on the rear side of where the cast aluminum frame piece used to be.
I adjusted the spacers behind the oil tank (comes with the MCX turbo kit), they control the distace between the oil tank and the MCX return oil pump for the turbo. The gap has always been way too wide, the hood have been grinding on the oil tank. Moving the oil tank closer to the oil pump and the deltabox frame gives a little room between the hood and the oil tank and will stop the hood from touching the oil tank.
When working on the oil tank I noticed something disturbing on the skis. First thought was that it was a small scratch on the surface of the ski, when taking a closer look both skis have hairline cracks just in front of the front wearbar bolt.
OBS!
Those who run SLYDOG skis, take a close look at your skis, you may driving around with skis waiting to fail.
I do not know if this is a widespread problem.
I only want to bring this to attention for other sledders running Slydogs to take a close look at their skis to make sure they do not go riding with cracked skis.

That looks to straight and true to be a crack? How deep is it? That would make for one bad day to have the ski tip come off at sat 20 psi WOT run!

UPDATE September 2. - Working on the tank covling.....
My friend Mikkel came by with the tank covling this evening to test install it in my sled. He have finished the primer, and he have added a layer of matte black paint to make it easier to spot imperfections.
With the tank covling installed on the sled we found a few minor imperfections he's going to remove. He's going to grind down the imperfections, add new primer in the offended area then start the painting process. I'm going with Black paint on the covling (the matte black used in the pics is for testing purposes only).
We decided to install the hood and the seat as well to get a better idea of how the tank covling will look like when all is finished off. I borrowed my friends Attak seat as it is already fitted to the REV gas tank.
When looking at it I found that painting only the top of the tank covling black was the wrong thing to do. I decided to have the whole tanke covling painted black. We have also decided to paint some parts on the hood black to create a flow of black from the rear of the sled and forward to the front of the sled. I have a crack in the hood in the nose, we will fix this crack and paint the middle section of the hood black, from the nose rear to the head light will be painted black as well.

The other ski has a crack in the exact same spot, only difference is the length of the cracks. I have not removed the ski to take a look so I don't know for sure, but scratching with my nails underneat the ski I can feel something I believe to be a crack. But I will not say that the crack goes all the way thru the ski before I have removed the ski to have a closer look, but I will believe me. I do not want to have a ski come in 2 at 130+ MPH or in a tight turn on the trail with oncoming traffic
That gas tank cowl is SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!

Thanks a lot TT
Just wait until every part is painted in the final color and the extra layers of clear paint is added. I can't wait to see the final result when all parts are permanently installed in the sled, then start her up and hear her come to life and roar

Great job Rxrider, are you planning to use stock RX1 style seat? Have you came up with a plan to cover up the big hole that is going to be left or leave the stock look to the rear of the sled? If not have a look at mountain mod seats. Murray makes a seat that you could put your helment in, opening isnt that big. But the rear looks like a 2stroke style seat, and its lighter, doesnt take on water like stock, great ride also. No im not a salesman, he made the seat for us western Canada riders with front mount turbos. Keep up the great work.

Thanks RED
No, I'm going with the Apex seat. I cut open an old RX-1 seat just for R&D purposes. I'm not going to put the exhaust side covers on. I may leave the sides open ??? don't know yet, have to install everything to get a clear idea on what to do in the rear. The rear plastic part has to stay to hold the rear/break light in place, or I may put a LED rear/break light on the rear of the tunnel extension and ditch the old light pod, and save some weight as well
Do you have any pics of that seat laying around, please post if you have, new ideas are always welcome.
I will, whatever work is done on my sleds it will be covered in this thread.

I'll arrive at your house somewhat late in the day, kinda after noon, no earlier than that.
