rxrider's Turbo Garage - pics back, will continue

I will, are you still riding TT? How's the Rapex doing?

Perfect! Snow is still good! I think they will extend the season:) rapex has been good. Put her up for sale, but not not sold yet . If not sold it might be a mid mount conversion this summer!

If sold, what is your new addiction or dream build, I can't imagine you give on your great addiction and hobby, like me I guess you have to build something. I got to build my cousins Apex this winter and I guess it saved me from going crazy LOL

There will be a next project when/if the rapex sells - a mid mount EFi sled with 144-162" track:)

Great to hear buddy, I'm going out tonight to make a system check run, and if all is well I will turn the boost up and check AFRs, I'm turning it up until I'm out of clutching then adjust clutching when home.

Yeah I should have but ended up changing tyres on my car and polished the rinds on my wifes car, I did a great job by the look of her smile when she saw the end result.

I've decided to grab a beer or two and call it the day, I'll load up the sled, carry all hardware and tools I need and head 15 miles up the valley in the morning to ride on the lakes, we still have close to 3 ft of ice on the lakes :)

Today I was out on Lake Gagga for a testride on my old 03 RX-1 Turbo. Test track was wet spring snow on top of lake ice, length was 2000ft or 600 meters.

First thing I did was to ride a few miles to fully warm up the engine before putting a load on it. On the end of the warmup ride boost was spiking badly and the sled was misfireing, I belive the wastegate flabber was rusted and moving slowly. Temps were at 3C or 37F. Weather was overcast with low clouds, low baro pressure and a very minimal drissle... a bad air day I would say.

My goal for the day was to check Meth injeciton, set boost pressure at 20 lbs, check AFRs, tune AFRs by restricting pressure going to the float bowls via a adjustable shut valve, tune clutches.

My sled and part of the lake in view.

My sled is inspired by the Swedish motorbike rider Ghost Rider, I chose black as the main theme color with no graphics like his bikes :)

Back to the testing, first test run at WOT;
With WG boost level of 12 lbs I did 228 kmt or 141 mph on speedo. I had a slight misfire with AFRs in the low 11s. I established that my meth system was working. The boost spike I had initially was less pronounced, but now I had boost creep instead as boost rose during the WOT run.

With all systems checked I started to crank up the boost step by step. The next run out I reached 14 lbs of boost. Boost creep went away, no boost spikes were observed. AFRs climbed to 11.5, I still had some minor misfire at WOT, but nothing much, speed reached 233 kmt or 144 mph.

I turned the boost up to 18 lbs. No boost spikes, no boost creep, no misfire running at WOT. Rpms reached 10400. AFRs climbed to 11.8. Speed rose to 241 kmt or 149 mph.

Next I did was to turn the boost up to 20 lbs. Rpms reached 10500. AFRs went to 11.9. Speed was at 245 kmt or 152 mph. Top end is now about perfect but still a bit rich running meth, but that will me about perfect on a good air day and colder temps. I still have some tuning to do at low to midrange as I have some misfireing in the transition from 40 to 60 mph hoding it WOT all the way from a standstill. There is no hesitation or burble of any kind when giving it WOT from a standstill, Hurricane turbo springs works :) With my setup I cannot give it WOT from a standstill and hold it there, the sled wheelies until she flips over backwards hahahahaha she has some power now LOL

Last thing I did was to test the pressure restrictor I have made up the reduce pressure going to the float bowls....bottom line is that it doesn't work, consistecy is thrown out the window trying to use a valve to refuce pressure going to the float bowls, AFRs went erratic and nonconsistent, the whole ide is now discarded and will be removed from the sled..... on the other hand I may be able to use it as a pitot jet and bleed off pressure, that may work???? Any input guys would be highly appreciated.

I still have a few days left on the Lake before trails shuts down....

:yam: :tg: :-o :rocks: LaLaLa :jump: ;):D :flag:

:die LaLaLa :drink:

That is moving by my conversion about 152mph is that dream meter speeds and your running 9T drivers right?

That is not slow by any means but as a FYI I can hit 148ish with my SC apex at 10-11psi with a 121" cobra track and 9T drivers on the dream meter.

Picts look great I wish I could ride again!!!

Good luck dialing her in you have a lot more left!

kinger - your sled runs super, that's a great speed at that powerlevel. I run 9T Doo extros. I run a 136"x1.25" RipSaw. That was Dream meter readings.

My riding was done on snow, not ice :)
My sled is set up for rough tail, I'm sure I could make her faster setting it up for lakeracing :) What gearing do you run kinger? Mine is 25/38.

Thanks TT, she has been running since early February, haven't had the time to ride her properly until now. TT would you mind sending me some pics and words on how your pitot tube works, I sick and tired of rejetting......grrrr why can't temps and pressure stay the same all year around LOL.

For now I'm happy with it.

No pitot for me - I drive mcx - we ride - don't wrench lol ;-)

I know that, but you used to have a Bender, I thought you could share some insight with me hahahahah

Yes dont get me wrong that is FAST and I only had the guts to hold it there once. Did yours jump right up to that speed or did you hold her down for awhile? I had mine pinned about 5-8 seconds before I let off and it FLYS up to 140 then it slowly crept from there. I would assume yours flys up to 150 then will slowly creep up to 160 ish. Man I cant even believe were talking about these speeds on trail sleds LOL BOOST RULES!

I run 24/40 gearing my test was on a hardpack road with around 1" of fluffy snow. On a trail I can only see 130ish on dream meter if I peg it to the bar and then look down right away. It takes some time to hit 148 on the speedo.

How much power do you think your sled is making? Mine dyno'd at 248hp.

I just figured yours would BLOW mine away on top speed and acceleration.

:) yes it goes straight to 150mph or 240kmt and creep to 152mph or 245kmt and stops there. I think I'm out of gear or/and clutching, for the conditions at least. Yeah it's crazy, boost rules for sure. Not sure, about 330 hp I would guess running it at 20 lbs.
