rxrider's Turbo Garage - pics back, will continue

Those are some awsome pics of your kids with the Porsangerfjorden in the background. Not often ot looks like that - dead calm. My garage is also a mess and way too small. With all sled parts, carpenter tools, sons' motorcycel the old faithfull Yamaha Viking etc. It is almost impossible to work on the sled. I use half the time just moving stuff around. It is about time you went with a 144 track. I can't understand the 121-136" thing and boost. It just wheelie all the time. You will love the sled with the new length. What track lug are you going with 1.75 or 2"?

The 136 is great for speedruns on the lake, 121 I wouldn't even dare to ride. The 136 is crazy from a standstill, skis in the air and I have to let off not to flip over backwards, that why I'm going to 144, trying to keeps the skis down giving it wot from a standstill. And of course the improved off-trail rideability. I'm going with a 1.5" Crossover track.

Sled Dog hahahahaha it's not for show only, I had it while looking at the parts after unwrapping them, and yes I enjoyed that Mack Beer from the northernmost brewery in the world - http://www.mack.no/

Update - July 19. - MCX Display Unit Install Guide.

To run the MCX Display Unit to add logging, gauges and tuning functionality to your MCX turbo kit, you need to have the 2007 or newer MCX EFI computer installed in your sled. The Display Unit connects directly to the new style MCX EFI computer.

Update - August 18. - Summertime. A sneak peak on a 50mm TiAL Q BOV.

It's been quiet in my garage the last few months, been on vacation, out fishing, at our cabin, and on vacation once more.

Out fishing with my daughters, wife and our cat. Pics are shot at midnight.

I've managed to do a few things tho.
I have installed a closet for storing of sledding gear.

DSCF2237.jpg

I had to tore apart the magneto side on my friends Attak to get hold of the MCX bolt and washer. TT had bought my friends MCX turbo kit last season, but he missed the bolt and washer that holds the magneto to the crank. The MCX bolt drives the MCX return oil pump.

Got the bolt off the crank.

DSCF2693.jpg

TT had already sent me the stock bolt and washer.... :)

I have a few new parts to install on my turbo sled before next season, here's one of them.
I need more capacity and thus decided to add one more BOV to my charge tube. The Vortech is lightning fast but it cannot stop the turbo flutter I get running my sled past 18 lbs of boost.

This valve is the TiAL Q 50mm BOV, I'm going to install it in the on the IC in front of the IC core up in the nose cone. I chose to go with the black internal spring, it's a bit stronger than the Vortech. The Vortech will take care of most of the throttle variations in normal riding, the TiAL will kick in when in on/off/on/off throttle riding conditions or when releasing the thruttle when at full boost past 20 lbs.

The TiAL came nicely packed...

The Black TiAL will match my aluminum/black color theme of my sled.

:tg: :-o

Update - August 19. - The shelf build done. Cleaning up the garage.

I have built a new shelf the last week or so. I didn't care to buy an expensive warehouse shelf, I bought the wood I needed, cut the boards, and screwed all parts together.

It's finally done and I've started cleaning up the garage, sorting parts, gear, bits and bites, wrenches and stuff and placed them on the shelf.

DSCF2914.jpg

I've bought a lot of new equipment and tools this summer, here are a few...

A compression tester.

DSCF2919.jpg

A fuel pressure tester.

DSCF2920.jpg

Got the computers ready to start tuning.

DSCF2917.jpg

Finally I have put up some pics, Yamaha advertising and a few posters of Gilles from G-Force and my friend Bob Davis participating on the G-Force Team, not to forget a copy of Bob's 60 days Guinness World Record Diploma.

DSCF2916.jpg

Next time out I will start working on my sled.... stretching the ZX-2 is next.... Looking forward to start working on my sleds.

Update - August 25. - Extending my ZX-2 from 136" to 144".

At last I got the Garage cleaned up enough to start working on my sled.

First ting I did was installing my chain hoist (lack of better word), removed the rear and front bolts from the skid, dropped the skid, and hoisted the rear end of my sled off the ground.

DSCF2922.jpg

The skid is off.

DSCF2923.jpg

There were still a lot of slider life left, they wear almost the same as any other skid I know of.

DSCF2924.jpg

DSCF2926.jpg

DSCF2928.jpg

I removed the sliders and the old 136" extension, the rear axel and the track tensioner.

DSCF2933.jpg

Ready to install the 144" extension.

DSCF2937.jpg

The 144" extension install done.

DSCF2938.jpg

Removing the ZX-2 was a piece of cake, so were the extension install.
Next thing is servicing the bearings and idlers. All in all the skid is in very good shape after the punishment it's been thru the last 3 seasons.
The only piece wrecked is the aluminium plate over the right hand side spring adjustment. I may build a new plate out of aluminum stock if I'm not able to get it welded.

More to come soon :)

;)! :-o :flag:  :pics:

Nothing here at seasleve uhhh ment sealevel. Talked to a reindeer herdsman/owner early this week and he told me he had blizzards up in the mountains out on the plains. What we had early August is all gone.

Update - August 27. - Maintaining my ZX-2 144".

Today I looked over the ZX-2. I had all idlers off and changed most bearings, I repacked a few that were good still. Added LocTite and torked to bolts, 68Nm on the bolts entering a shaft, 60Nm on the with a lock nut on the end of the bolt.

The skid is done.

DSCF2945.jpg

Need to fix this part, it has cracked in several places and need to be fixed or replaced.

DSCF2946.jpg

Next is removing the chain case, drive axel and the old track.

Update - September 27. - Removing chain case, drive shaft and the old track. Installing a new track.

I have removed the chain case and drive shaft from the ol' turbo. The 136 x 15 x 1.25 RipSaw is gone. A new 144 x 15 x 1.5 Crossover track is installed. Chain case is partly installed.

Unluckily the speedo side drive shaft bearing's on backorder... has been for the last month. My dealer have tried to get the bearing from other sources than Yamaha without any luck.

I'm pretty much stuck until my dealer gets the bearing in stock.
