Yeah I agree my 2012 procross was a real pile of junk, lol. My 18 Winder was really nice in comparison, and the shocks were really good then. I wish the SRX was avail with those qs3r still. The Procross is NOT 10 years old now. It has evolved endlessly over the last 9 years. It is NOT even close to the same sled. The 4 stroke platform needs some small improvements and its in the game and no problem being on top. (ie. New guage, higher seat, new plastic... etc.. Where they need a new chassis is on the 2 stroke side to get it lighter. They are using the procross to a 1 size fits all and they need to shed 20+lbs off the 2 stroke and bring out the 850 they have sitting there.
I like the chassie, its warm and ergos feel great to me. Front end works wonderful. I would like to see a one piece tunnel and a bit higher fit/finish ect. But I love the quick removal of plastics. Owning a G4 removing plastics takes a few minutes with tools needed and knowing how. First time guys it can be a real chore. Bad design by BRP IMO but BRP never makes anything easy to work on for their owners, they likely do this so you tend to take their sleds to their dealers. BRP is a marketing giant on every single thing, they look at it from beancounters perspective.
IMO Yamaha needs to take the reigns from Cat on the 4s sleds. Make the fixes, and ANNOUNCE that you fixed the items, this would go a long way to many buyers who left. Its a great sled just needs the items we all know about addressed. Maybe a new updated gauge and a one piece tunnel and more shock choices. Cat will be releasing their '22s today around 6pm I believe. I have heard Cat has their own clutches now, not sure if that is true. But they wont translate to YAM. Yamaha we all know will have the best looking colors for the 998 as always, EPS should be a real nice addition too.
At this point, a WINDER may very well be alot LESS cost to buy then some of the BRP products. Lynx and Mach are pricey. I believe the new 900r has gone up $1600 USD over last yrs 900t. So now all the sudden a SRX at 17,999 actually looks cheap! LOL

Good info here...Most the turbo crowd is savvy here and knows what we should expect.
Im leaning toward ordering a Mach. As you guys know Im all about a new sled every couple seasons and try them all.
.....
Another thing that is not sitting well with me...I don't want or need Smart-Shox. The additional tech, sensors, wiring, just begs for more issues IMO. BUDS will be needed to do any work if you remove track, or a shock and likely when I do my post forward mod. Since there is also a sensor for steering position. Grrr. Also, I don't need or want the $800 7.8 prem gauge, but BRP shoves these items down our throat if we want the Mach. And prices it to the sky. grrrr. All this adds a substantial weight penalty of 17lbs to the already heavier XRS model. Mach weighs in at 548lb vs XRS at 531lbs. And the XRS is already several lbs above the X/ADR models(524lb).
.....
We did get some clutching info from Qc. which was nice to see....the 900t was clutched like an old mans sled. Buddy had one last season and I did not like it. 900r now gets new weights(83g) (#897Mach) (#880 X/ADR/XRS 900r)with higher engagement hump, new 160/290 primary spring and now finally a gr/gr(180/303) compression QRS spring. Similar setup we like in the 900t that made it work well.
Should be interesting next winter. I love a new project.
Dan
So why not get a Renegade with the 900T R without fancy shocks and gauge? Over here dealers could only sell 50 Mach Z each and they're all sold apparently...

I actually thought the 12 800 pro cross was a beast! That sled ran into the 115 GPS easy on a hard pack road.. Hell I put 7k on mine and it was perfect! I know the 12 procross is ripped on badly but with the 2 stroke 800 suzy they were damn good. Not saying they were NOT junk with a 4 stroke? My 2 cents

My 2012 XF1100T had 11,000 miles on it when sold. Single ply Cobra, studded. Only lost ONE belt and that was my own fault. It was corded, pulled it out, cut cord, turned it around and ran it some more. Was just a big trail sled, tall windshield and big tunnel bag. Ran 118 gps ALL day. No JUNK in my book. The new Winder is leaps and bounds better though. Thats what 10 years of fine tuning forks will get cha.I actually thought the 12 800 pro cross was a beast! Clutches, chaincase and shafts were all issues much worse than now but yes they were fast. Got $6000 for my 13rr this fall in hrs!I actually thought the 12 800 pro cross was a beast! Hey Dan... This is just my opinion.. I am not sure why anyone would by the 900TR in the G4 chassis or the new Mach Z for that matter when the Mach Z is only 1 year and 2 it maybe the last year for the G4 chassis. Those sleds should also come with a track option of a 1" or rip 2, both in a 2 ply track. For the amount of money you could save on the TCAT or SRX, I think its a truly better option. I also stand to the fact that the Procross is a better handling sled. I think you are getting to drawn in on the BRP marketing scheme. The G4 is freakin UGLY! The XS was a beautiful looking sled from BRP. Again its JMO...Yeah I agree my 2012 procross was a real pile of junk, lol. I agree until BRP gets rid of the Daffy Duck front end I won't even consider them . I think it's a going to be a good runner but I can't get over the looks. Then again some people say my wife is good looking but I don't agree with them either. Lol

Just because Doo says the Mach Z is a one year sled, doesn't mean it is. Maybe you are getting drawn into the BRP marketing scheme.....Hey Dan... This is just my opinion.. Oh you may be correct on that it maybe here longer !! However, they are just currently saying its a 1 year deal. However, I do think they are coming with a new plastic next year..Just because Doo says the Mach Z is a one year sled, doesn't mean it is. Maybe you are getting drawn into the BRP marketing scheme.....

Jesus Jon, do you even let him ride yours? I would have thought one would already be on order if you did!Its time! You need a turbo. The run quality of the 998 is far superior to the viper motor.. Just my opinion of coarse. Don't resist it you will love it!

Ok, but for years(starting in 2017 when the Winder/T-Cat came out), there were many 800 and 850 owners who thought they would beat the Turbos. There really was, I met tons of them. They have finally faced reality, although it took a long time....!Competition is what drives innovation. The Winder set the standard and now that Doo has stepped it up (a bit) lets hope YamaCat responds. The Winder has more displacement and a bigger turbo so it's pretty obvious that it has way more potential.
I spent thousands on my 900 because nobody else around here was doing it. I could have been like every other guy at the lake with a tuned winder but I didn't want that. I wanted to see how well I could get the 900 to run. In the end it wasn't for me. Not because it wasn't fast enough, it just didn't have any personality. What about the guys who have spent 1000's on the winder? What's the difference? We are all just looking to get the most performance out of the platform we are running.
I knew a 900 would never beat a tuned winder but I had fun messing with it and that's all any of us should care about.
There were a couple post on this thread where guys were happy to beat a 800 Poo. I just think it's funny, it's like bringing a knife to a gun fight. Kind of reminds me of a local Winder guy that always wants to race the fancy Poo 850 here, but won't bring his sled out. My comment was based more towards him.

And I agree that stock-stock the Winder better be on point or it is not going to go well. Even then I'm not sure I'd want to bet on the Winder. With proper traction, launch control, and a bit less weight, the Mach is going to leave hard. Tuned is a different story; I just don't think there's enough there for the doo guys tune with and then hope to run with a tuned Winder. I'd actually like to be wrong; competition is fun, and it would be good to race something other than another tuned 998 next season.I agree 100% on all your points and I can give credit that the winder is an awesome sled. I loved my 2015 cat and the only reason I don't have a Winder is because every person around here has one except for 3 or 4 of us. Stock for stock while retaining warranty the Mach will give the winder all it can handle. I'm excited that Doo is at least finally recognizing that there are those of us looking for a maximum performance.

I haven't ridden a Winder in years. I know better. Too addicting and the little voice takes over rational thought. I have a plan. One thing I don't like is they got rid of the 129". That's what I will be looking for.I never caught up to him!! I was trying to prevent frostbite!!!
