There have been a few questions about clearance in the tunnel with and without rear coolers and pics.
Took a few snap shots of my skid without the shock installed to show how far the suspension can collapse on a bottom out.
You can see how close the track gets to the tunnel protectors and rear exchanger. This is why one needs 1.5" of protection when running 1.325 studs on the stock Ripsaw track. Even my 1.22" Ice Ripper needs 1" of separation from the rear cooler.

I am thinking about studding my 1.25 Vector XTX... not sure what to expect.. figured I'd need extra protection. No info on Vector forum..rare are these Vector XTX's..Apex 146 should be the same.

That is the reason I switched to an Ice Attack track, too. But I removed my additional protectors that i had with my last studded Ripsaw so now just running stock tunnel protectors and nothing on the rear cooler.

In my pic there is 1" of protection over the rear exchanger. Don't see how the molded in studs could ever touch the exchanger.

It seems when the track lugs hits the protection the lugs can bend allowing the studs or pre studded lugs to hit (travel further) the cooler. Again this must be dependent on which machine, track, stud length.
Yes. The soft Ripsaw I will bend over when hitting the protectors.
As you can see in the pics my exchanger has been beat up. This damaged occurred with the stock track and 1.325 studs. Keep in mind that when I added my exchanger I removed the tunnel extension and raised it up about 3/4" at the rear. I then added a heavily modified tunnel protector that was 1.5 inches over the exchanger. I painted the exchanger black and looked for shiny spots after each ride. All good but after this mod the fingers on the Ripsaw started to rip off from grinding against the extra protection. The extra protection saved the exchanger but was hard on the soft Ripsaw. Switched to the Ice Attack XT. This Ripsaw II is a tougher track and does not fold over as much as the Ripsaw I.
The pics show the suspension completely collapsed with no shock in it. I'm sure it could collapse a little more when bottoming out as the bump stops get compressed.
So bottom line is Yes, the molded in studs could hit the exchanger with only the stock protectors given a certain scenario. Believe me I am sure I could find that scenario.
