I am about 6'5 and went to a 8" riser also, makes the transition from sitting to standing seem easier also.

I am 5'10" and can ride standing quite comfortable with stock riser.

The Winder issues are Cat issues.....buy a cat and avoid all the winder issues

An LE will have the best shock package. Powermadd makes an adjustable riser that goes from 5 to 8 inches and works great.
