Clutching/orange Thunder secondary spring/straight 38 helix

Update: Got 90 miles today. Went back to stock secondary spring. Still seeing good back shift and engine braking. The Orange thunder secondary spring definitely was back shifting more. To much for my set up and liking.
A lot of traffic on trails. And maybe guys could slow down some when meeting other sleds. On the grade today and guys are not slowing when meeting other sleds. I really ain't that impressed if you drive fast when meeting other sleds. I was taught to also ride the right side of trails. And if unable to under control > you slow down! Okay rant over. Happy trails. Stay safe

I dont think the orange TP sec spring will ever top end as good as a stock whimpy soft spring....But I do think it will make for a very nice corner to corner sec setup....Will see if I need that with the tune, need to get some decent weather back though.

Lake looks like it will be radar heaven though this week...may just have to go put down some numbers out in front of my place here.

In other posts people are seeing 6 mph more with the orange secondary spring than stock...just an FYI

Is this on snow or tar?

Just wondering on how this spring works in real world snow conditions, especially on a stock tuned SW.

Snow

But we saw the same results on asphalt as well as snow.

I'll find the post.

Last year put in the TP Big Venom kit, TP secondary adjuster and an Ulmer 47/41 helix on my 16 RTX. Worked pretty good. This year I switched to the orange secondary spring at 3-3 and also went to the TP 14.8 rollers. Finally got out last weekend on the river for the first time and the sled ran 6 mph better top end then it ever did last year. Happy so far. Now we just need to get some snow to try it on the trails.

So many variables in snow conditions, rider weight, traction, helixes, primary weights, primary springs etc. All I know is I really like the snap and backshift I get from my orange secondary spring compared to stock. My buddies almost identically set up 50th LTX except for stock clutching is about 3 or 4 mph slower on a long lake run. We are pretty much side by side till 110 where I end up walking him to 122 on my speedo while he sees 118. My sled does pull more rpms so maybe that is the reason. That being said I am going to try 50 degrees wrap like Knapp suggests next week and see if I can free up some efficiency. Currently my original belt looks great with not much dust.

TD PT Dalton weights 76.5 gm Blk/blue drive spring ,TP orange driven spring ,35 helix 8jp belt ,hits 9150 then settles to 8900 rpm .Clutches ,78 driven 98 drive degrees .This is with 3 ,1/4 mile runs .

How have your clutches been Ken as far as heat? Any belt issues? How do you like the tune you got?

When you get it dialed in ,Stk.will feel like a 600.Clutches cool ,After some changes .Love the BTX seat though .With the 33/35 way too much heat ,35 helix a lot less heat .Nice low engagement with the blk/blue spring also .

Yes the BTX seat is amazing! ;)

IMO that is not a good comparison, lots of variables from his prior setup.

Def more heat with orange at 60 degrees and 33/35. It does make for awesome snap with STOCK motor.

Guys need to understand you need to take alot into account, not all tunes are the same and while the orange may work awesome for one guy it might be too much for next guy, depends on every part of your clutch recipe and HP.

Good stuff. Thanks for posting that Terry.
