Tired Of Sloppy Steering At Plastic Bushing And Steel Collar

They are the bushings around the bolt that holds the ski to the spindle. Bushing are inside the bottom of the spindle when you take the bolt out that holds the ski on. Don't have any pictures but can get some tonight. To see how much slop you have hold the spindle still and move the tip of the ski side to side while watching where the ski bolts to the spindle. There should be very little to none, but mine had a ton. (hehe rhyme time)

There are some aftermarket improved ones being developed/worked on, but not available at this time.

Found some time to do the swap. Tore the front end off, which made it a lot easier to get to. Changed the oil while it was apart to. What a difference! Kudos to you bushman.... and thanks again

Same here... I have Slydogs on mine and there is a lot of play in the spindle

No, it isn't that difficult... but there isn't an un-obstructed bolt on this darn machine! It would be nice if you didn't have to unbolt the radiator and oil tank.

Actually you don't have to un-bolt the oil tank... the bracket that covers the bolt just needs to be bent a little with a hammer and you can get to it with a socket and then a box wrench. The radiator is bolted to the front section so theres no getting around that... ;)!

Well merry x-mas to all and a very special thank you to Rob for putting this kit together for all of us forgotten phazer owners. I got my plastic washers in and threw her all together on the 22 of dec. I can't wait for your "other" bushing kit to come out because I will definitly need it there Rob. I got my washers on the 15th I think there Rob. Thank you. y computer is all buggered up right now and I am at my mothers house for dinner so I getting fill of the net while I can. 5 stars from me there Rob. Merry x-mas and happy new years to all !!!

Jeremy.H.

Thanks Jeremy working diligently on new Kit (top secret) just takes time for testing, working full time and then finding time to ride. Kit is looking to be ready around mid February and will be made upon request thanks agian.

For the record: If I'm not already, I would like to be the "first" to request this new: "Top Secret" kit. I know where this kit is designed for and after some observations while installing the bushing kit, I noticed that I will need the new one as well.

I still have a small amount of side to side movement. I'm assuming the other set of bushings need to be upgraded as well.

Hey Ruckus the rest of the side to side movement is in the 8 Ball Joints in the Steering System. If you turn the handlebar and watch the Tie Rod end at the Spindle you will see what I mean. So just add the other 7 together and that will sum it up. Some movement will remain due to these wearing over time just not the boat effect at the handlebar.

Hey Rob. I have been thinking of the new kit your designing. Still have me on your list ??? I can't wait for it so if you need another test mule send me a set and I'll give you some cold weather testing as it is now -42 C here.

I found a small list of things yamaha did to the 2010 phazer. One of them is the sloppy stearing issue (you guys seem to have). The arm that fits the bushing for the tie rods are longer completly round, they are now ribed.

Hey guys I did some research on the so called new Bushing change to are sloppy issue and all they did was change the part #8GC-23362-10 for 2010. The diagrams show same exact setup with the same collar used. A material change is all they probably did I have one on order to analyze.
