Cost me $1000 to prepare my Nytro with 20 000k for hot standby. Already cost me half that in belts for the Sidewinder.If my old Nytro was within reach I would grab it. Sure handling was lacklustre but if the best handling sled cant run - its kinda useless.

I do believe this turbo was Yamaha idea as they all have Yamaha part numbers on them even the cats. Mine is toast too, making a pretty good whining noise when shut down.

Oh I’m sure Yamaha spec’ed our that turbo for their engine. It’s no doubt Yamaha is going to the Dogs (or Cats however you see it). They didn’t manufacture it is what I’m saying. It’s a POS mass production junk turbo. If you want a good turbo get a Borg Warner, Garrett or Precision. If yamaha was serious about reliability and performance they would have used a Garrett or Borg Warner.
I’m just floored by the replacement pricing. What a joke $3K for a turbo Yamaha pays $300 for? Price gouging BS IMO.

IHI is know for not selling any replacement parts for their turbos, but someone should send their turbo to a couple of these service shops and see what they can do, you never know maybe they can rebuild them.

i already contacted turbo canada, and cherry turbo in can and j&h diesel in the us last week. All stated they could not service them.
If i have time today ill call the contacts clutchmaster listed. Cool.
I do know the part number has been replaced so therefore yam and cat know its an issue.

Yeah they know it's an issue along with many many other things in these sleds. What is pissing a lot of people off is that everything is back ordered.

Any update on search to repair? I know of no one who has found anyone to repair these. They are close to the same center as 1100 turbo.
I have one with 150 miles on it if someone is desperate to get one.

3 Winders stock turbos in our group and they all have a wind down noise with helmet off. One is a 19. None are as loud as lilrez. Many cars make this noise also. When should we start worrying?

Working through this issue on my turbo - my dealer thinks that the newer turbos are made in a different area than the oringal 17’s. Who knows what Yamaha and ihi have concocted .

Let us know how you make out. Mine isn’t loud bit it is noticeable after I shut it off. So are my friends. The sled runs great otherwise.
