Has anyone been checked yet this year for sound? Would be great to have folks post their actual DNR tested results with whichever muffler their using.
Next week, I can guarantee that Michigan will have their meters out hardcore by the I-500. I will be there.....
Would like to hear if anyone was stopped for loud exhaust on the trail so far also. Think I am the only one who had DNR test an exhaust so far..... (post 196 in this thread). Going to test Evo's Captain's choice muffler as soon as I get it

I have not been checked but I can tell you that my TD Turbo Force muffler did not draw any attention from two different LEO’s in MN that I drove by so far this season.
They were low speed low RPM encounters so that may not mean much. I am very interested to hear from anyone who has been checked in MN with this muffler.

Now that I have some real trail miles on a couple of these mufflers I thought I'd share some subjective perspective.
The TD Stock Mod muffler is awesome! If you're on the fence about noise but still want performance, this is the muffler for you and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this muffler to anyone. I rode with it last weekend for over 500 miles and was amazed at how well the sled ran (along with PowerTrail) compared to higher flowing mufflers that I've had on it. It's always difficult to tell from the video tests in the first post of this thread, but it sounds a lot better than the stock muffler, but what impressed me most is how it sounds at speed on the trail. For the first time in a long while, I heard the wind and my engine above the exhaust. It was an absolute pleasure riding above 50 mph and hearing the wind, kind of a different experience than what I'm used to.
As with any baffled muffler it has a drone at lower speeds/rpms and seemed to peak (for me) right around 35 mph, which is ~4400 rpm with my clutching and gearing. Even though this was the peak drone, it was less than my stock Apex at 25 mph, which drove me insane.
If you're still on the fence about how much noise you can tolerate, but want more HP, I'd suggest taking a serious look at this muffler, I think it's perfect when the highest HP and the lowest noise is your goal.

Thanks Art!
I am keeping my stock muffler stock for reinstallation at trade in time.
My TD Turbo Force muffler sounds awesome to me. Nice throaty growl at lower RPM’s and a race car howl at WOT.
It is not nearly as loud as the MBRP race can that I had on my ‘15 Viper for two seasons.

Extremely satisfied with the Hurricane trail muffler. Noticeably quieter than my brothers TD Turbo Force 2.5" (which isn't that loud either) especially from the drivers seat. When I got my kit Dave mentioned its only a few ponies down from the Hindle.

Beer man I agree! I started out with a super quiet muffler and wasn't please with the sound level or the drone at slow speeds. Not that it's abnoxious but everyone knows your not stock the minute you startup. The stock mod is perfect for me because it's quiet and stealth but flows well.
Has anybody heard the stock modified TD along side the new Hurricane trail to give a non biased comparison?

And based on the testing SanDale/Ulmer did last year, I'd guess the SQ and Stock Mod are within a few HP of each other. Knowing that it's an easy decision if I was debating between the two, it'd be the Stock Mod hands down.Beer man I agree! I would like to hear a sound clip of the Hurricane Trail Muffler. Anyone know of any besides the short clip on their facebook page?
Excellent post here. Very cool.

Was at the Soo-500 race and of course, the Michigan boys were sitting by the tunnel of I-75. Our group of 5 went up the side trail and was followed by them. All our sleds were good. Turbo Nytro with tunnel exhaust, 2 SW's with EVO Magnum mufflers, 1 stock 02 Viper and 1 02 Viper with a quiet can. No issues from Michigan DNR

I am running a MBRP trail muffler.
It seems at idle and all trail speeds it sounds quieter than stock, never makes any noise till WFO.
7500ish and up it has a very nice growl........
