I rode for the first time with the 06 bars on my 07 and they get HOT!!!! I never had to use them above 3 bars and had to turn them down to one bar . It is sure nice to have the option again if you want your hands warm or hot . Once again, great job ROCKERDAN!!!

we did a big ride yesterday again here and this time it was very mild(-2c or 30F).....and I had to just turn them OFF..lol.....one bar was cooking my hands at these temps thru the trails....for lakes i put it on one bar and was perfect.
I really hope yammie does something with their bar warmers in the future....just this thread alone proves that we all think the NEW BAR WARMERS SUCK!...LOL

Well I've got my 06 bars and will put them on my 07 Apex GT's. We have a big ride coming up in the UP next week and my Yammi dealer has me alittle nervous. He says the 07 sled/06 grips will toast my ECU. I assume that is because its possible for the heaters to get so hot they short out and I've heard the circuit is not protected by fuse? You appear to have a good deal of experience in this area so should I just keep em' turned down and forget about it or worry? Thanks....Mark..... MichiganROCKERDAN said:thats good to hear!....

Just keep them at 4 bars or lower on the display and you will be fine.

I don't think you could ride with them above 4 bars for very long unless your gloves are as thick as a Iowa cheerleader LOL just kidding ( a little ) we have some biggens here also , like they say heat in the winter and shade in the summer but I"ll stick with a nice coat and a tree .Happy riding (your sleds, get your minds out of the gutter) !!!

I wonder what this new harness does that get's better heat for the ATTAK or Phazer

Using the upgraded sub-harness changes the current from series to parallel. When you wire in parallel rather than series you get more current.
"In a parallel circuit, each device is directly connected to the power source. This means that each device receives the same voltage. The amount of current flowing through each device is dependent on the impedance/resistance of that particular device. If devices are added to the power source in a parallel configuration, the current demand/flow from the power source increases.
In a series circuit, the current must flow through one device to get to the next device. This means that the rate of current flow through all devices is the same. The voltage across each device depends on its impedance/resistance of each device and the current flowing through the circuit. When adding more components in a series circuit, the current flow decreases, if the applied voltage remains constant."

Why would they have this out for the Phazer only?

Ok, now the dealer is telling me that if I put 06 bars on an 07 sled the heaters will destroy the CDI. Yes, CDI, not the ECU but then I wouldn't know one from the other. I thought the CDI had to do with ignition. Anyhow, I don't want to destroy either. The sled is sitting in the barn with the new 06 bars on it but I'm still nervous. People have put thousands of miles on their sleds without any issues using this mod. I for one have put over 1,000 miles and no problems. I’m sure if anyone has done this mod they learned about it from this site and I would think they would have posted about any problems they have had.

I thought the same. I did the mod and it is GREAT!! Just do it and you wont have to run them over 3 bar's . You will be very happy.

If you are worried about it,then you probably shouldnt do this mod...noone here is gonna tell you to do it,if you are worried.....this is something each of us did and knew full well something might go wrong.....
heck,when i did it first,i just was testing output power and happend to plug in the old bars with new harness,then they got hot...and i said screw these new bars...the old ones with new harness are HOT...and i installed them,and have been riding it near 4000 miles with them like this....i always have them ON too,as i get cold hands easily....
when its real cold,ive run them at MIDWAY with thumb on FULL....if that didnt blow the ECU or anything else going WOT across lakes for miles and miles,then i doubt its gonna blow ever....
If you take the time to read thru all this....you will come to your own conclusion....and im guessing you will see many many many people early on didnt do it,as they were aprehensive just like yourself...
But after time,you see that just about all those people are now running this setup....
trust me,if i blew my ECU i would POST here,as I feel responsible for this entire thread and mod....
so,i dont ever want to make someone do this mod...but everyone i see on the trail,i tell them about it....and let then make there own decisions...after they feel my bars at -20 and see how hot they are....they usually go for it!..lol
let us know when you got hot hands...we will love to see another happy camper.

i was one of the guys that waited to do this mod and kept checking this thread to see if there was going to be a significant failure rate.
well, 1100 miles ago i did it and now wish i'd done it right away. i realize there is a risk, but got to the point that i decided the risk was minimal compared to the reward. cold hands suck. if the ECU goes, which i don't see happening, i'll remember the miles of toasty hands!!!!!
