with skidoo turbo giving away 100cc and way down power , will the sidewinder ever be surpassed??? Could u imagine the writeups Supertrax would give this motor if it was in a skidoo ???

Ive been contemplating too......I wonder, If doo has good success/sales with their little turbo 900t, would they then bring out a larger turbo variant, with an iconic name, ala' SRX and Tcat, of course Mach Z. Bring that out with HP numbers equal to the Winder. Now that would be fun. Still wont have the sweetheart motor we got in the 998.

MACH Z returns with a turbo vengeance!!! SRX and Thundercat are already here... You gonna step up to the plate BRP? The market is obvious, the 900T is the mass market, bring out the adrenaline monster. Yamacats are great and all but let’s get an insane Japan made SRX, a pure AC TCat, and a new Mach to force everyone to the next level!

lol- lil 900 turbo...it’s only a 100cc’s smaller...actually 98 cc’s smaller.
Just lil on power I guess for a turbo..a 155 HP Turbo is a little anemic imo.

Don't think the 900t is going to compete with out internal work and a bigger Turbo. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Agreed, and I don't think that is the market segment anyways for the 900t. Frankly mark my words there is a huge call for an even smaller, super reliable, high mpg, 4s motor that was designed for a turbo from the start. There is a ton of efficiency to be gained, and the wife will get one.
But, there is that small but substantial ultra-performance segment. Hell this is the Winder forum, that's us! Release a ridiculous sled, the equivalent of a 93 900 TCat at the time. The sled that blows everything out of the water. Let's get the equivalent of a Dodge Demon, a machine that shouldn't even exist from the factory.

I'm still holding out hope that the carbon composite chassis patent is a clue to what Yamaha has up their sleeve. Probably still be a joint venture. Updated A.C. front end, carbon chassis and a true progressive rate rear end. 200+ HP under 500 lbs wet. The yellow team would be shaking in their boots.

Yeah if I had to guess it will be a joint venture from now on too. Thankfully the side by sides have helped the OEMs stay in business and still even have a snow line.

Sleds, like cars, go in phases & cycles.
In the 60's we had the muscle car era. 396 & 454 Chevys, Two 428 Fords & a 429 that were all different motors, 440 6-pack & 426 Hemi's....WOW what an era!
Then in the 70's we were lucky to get 150 hp out of the hottest car sold, the Smokey & the Bandit Trans Am.
Then came the gas/emissions crunch. AMC pacer, K-cars.......i can't even discuss this era.
NOW guys like BEERMAN can buy a 710 hp Jeep! It will absolutely smoke anything from the 60's. Rumor has it he tuned it up a bit also.
All hail the BEERGOD!
There are dozens of cars over 500 hp, half dozen or so over 700 & a few over 1000. Bone stock!
You can take the Hellcat or Mustang, put a tune & a few goodies in, just like our 'Winders & get over 900 hp. That's just sick!
To answer the question.....NO....i don't think we'll have a HP war or any 998 Turbo competition.
Why you ask?
Because to get 200 hp plus out of a 2-stroke would be putting it on the edge. So 4-strokes it would have to be.
Polaris doesn't have a 4-stroke so they are out.
Arctic Cat is just a Green 'Winder so that doesn't count.
That leaves the Yellow Machine.
They just came out with the 900T. They know the tuners will hop it up to 200 or 250. So why would they take the risk when the tuners will get the hp up & DOO will have no responsibility?
OR...............i could be wrong

Goddammit, Beerman has a Track Hawk?? I will bend my knee for a mere sniff of the exhaust...
Personally, 70 was the year that muscle cars died and only four were ever on my radar:
68 GT500
70 LS6 Chevelle
70 L88 Vette
70 Hemi Superbird
Sheer performance wise even last year’s Chevy SS sedan would have blown their minds back then though. You’re right though, the Winder IS the insane power monster of today.
We’ll just have to sit the whippersnappers on our knee and tell stories of the “trailing arm muscle sleds” when men were men and handling be damned! I’m pretty sure I still have spare sparkplugs in jacket pockets stashed in various closets. Outer NGK boxes all smashed and wadded into a corner of the pocket...

Reasons i believe there won't be any more 200 plus sleds:
1. Although Polaris is rumored to have a 4-stroke, by the time they put it out & perfect it, the HP trend will probably sway backwards.
2. DOO still does not want their OWN 4-s to be more powerful then their OWN 2-s since they promoted 2-s so hard. (and bashed 4-s weight)
3. I think the manufacturer's are feeling 200 may be the limit.
4, They scare me!

Well then Doo should double down and release a Mach Z 1300 triple 2 stroke! 250 hp and 4.3 mpg! That will teach them tree hugging 4s hippies!

The Motec powered 1200 doos will run or out run the Spinegrinders ,As far as making more powerful sleds stk i think it has to do with who could afford the insurance after the vin is run by the ins. company .

Not to burst anybody's bubble (especially if their Sidewinder is stock), but a bone stock Doo 850 with our clutching in testing..... is clicking 99.6 mph in 660ft. on snow.
A tuned or flashed Sidewinder will still be king
