Are they out far enough for clearance around the legs and able to pick up oncoming sledders?

The riser is hollow and I drilled and did the lock nut trick.

Not the best pic and they are not the best set up. The braces are in the way and a pain when you have to dismantle for routine maintainece of the sled. I wish they could have offered a better set up. I think the need for the brkts stems from an underengineered headlight pod mount.

To answer your question about sending your shock to Ohlins. I did and and have not had any problems with one complete season of use {knock on wood}. I am not saying that any other place recommended would not do a good job, I just had a fast turn around and a good experience with Ohlins...

I used the marine mount that came with the garmin. It has a safety lock (see red arrow) to hopefully keep it attached on rough trails.
