2011 MN TY Ride. Feb 17th - Feb 20th 2011

Trails will still be rideable, just expect icy conditions and a few brown corners. The base is quite thick and will take a few weeks yet to melt. Have good carbides and some scratchers if you need them. Suppose to be 20 on Friday and mid teens on Saturday.

We're still planning on coming Thursday night no matter what, We'll just ride off trail if the trails get too bad. Saturday looks like it not going to get over 20.

I'll meet everyone at Bimbo's on Side Lake Friday 9 ish in the morning. Let's off trail it all day. I'm jonesing for some of that, yes I am....

For Sat I am hit or miss. If I drive back tho Friday eve I prob won't be back Saturday.

Hey Ryan, you gotta be there Friday!!!!!! ;)!

Buddy just called and said the main (taconite) trail is pretty rough but the rest of the trails seemed to be holding up OK. Tomarrow will be judgement day, suppose to be sun and mid 40s. Off trail should be pretty good yet but might have a thick crust by the weekend.

Well then lets just ride off trail all weekend!

;-)

Off trail riding riding is still decent over here in Hermantown, so it's still got to be great up there

We're supposed to be leaving for a trip to Bigfork tomorrow morning...but I'm on the fence. Will the trails have any snow by the end of tomorrow? And then by Saturday I suppose they'll be glare ice and rock hard huh...

Decisions decisions... sorry for the hijack...I just can't decide.

The trails are going to bad anywhere where it was vwery warm/sunny all week and then re-freeze, which is about everywhere......

I'm setup, made up some "ski savers" and put my ski mounted ice scratchers back on. I just have to go pickup my re-valved shocks this morning and put them back in the sled. A little dirt on the corners never stopped me before, and as of this morning the local trails be me are still in pretty good shape with very few dirt spots, and the area around Bimbo's had more snow then by my house.

Everyone, the weather has not cooperated very well this week, but the forecast is for a cool down today and possibly snow tomorrow. Despite trail conditions we will go ahead with this ride.

For everyone planning on attending, I'd like to have a roll call by 4:00PM this afternoon. I do not have internet access at home and will not be able to check the website after I leave work.

For anyone on the fence or just has questions, please call my cell:
Dan 218-969-5893

I will plan on meeting Nick, Andy, and it sounds like a couple of others at Bimbo's parking lot tomorrow morning at 9:00am. If anyone was planning on riding Friday and doesn't know where that is, look at previous posts in this thread or call me. I am thinking Friday will be an unofficial TY ride.

However; Saturday we will meet in front of the Chisholm Inn and Suites at 9:00am. Please be sure to sign the TY waiver and send it to Mr. Sled. I will collect them Saturday morning for those of you who didn't get them to Mr. Sled already. These waivers are very important and signing them is not optional!

Sleddingfarmer, I was thinking of running the official TY ride up in the Bigfork/Effie area as those trails generally see a lot less traffic than major trails such as the Taconite or Arrowhead. There are also less road crossings and decent portions of that area are sheltered by tree cover. I may have a chance Friday to scout out the trails up in that direction. I think if you head that direction you will be ok.

We will make a decision where to go Saturday morning based on how many riders we have, and trail conditions. I plan on mustering at 9:00am and leaving by 9:30AM. I will take names for whoever answers roll call (by 4:00pm today), but if you're not on the list and I haven't heard from you, we're assuming no more riders are participating and we will be departing.

Also, for anyone out of state, there is only one ELS agent in Chisholm and it is the Lucky 7 Convenience store on the North end of town on Hwy. 73. There is no easy way to get there on sled with the roads as melted as they are. Please pick up your trail permits while trailering up as we may not be going by any permit vendors as we did last year. I believe it is still $17 for a one year permit, and I have heard reports of "Officials" check for registration and permits up in the areas I anticipate we may be riding.

My cell # is listed above. Please call if you have any questions or concerns. I hope to meet some more members this year. Let’s make this a safe and fun ride. See you tomorrow/Saturday!

Well we canceled our trip, but mostly only because the river that we have to run on from our buddies cabin opened up. So we would have a hard time getting from the cabin to the trails without use of the river.

Best of luck guys!

I just made a reservation at the Chisholm Inn for Fri night. $85.50 for the night. That's cheaper than what gas would be for me to commute there and back each day!

So I'm in for both Friday and Saturday. Heck, we can off trail ride both days as far as I'm concerned!

4 more hours tell I leave to meet up with Nick and Andy. :rules

Yay, it's below freezing and SNOWING right now. Atleast we will have a bit of fresh snow to lube the slides.
