Asphalt Results 2005

ah yes. good luck.
I'm meeting up with Mike on Thursday and hoping to have a small change installed for Sunday. :-o

Hey, great reaction times Terry, I wish I could post times like that, just can't get it together this year, just not enough practice and our track opening is postponed now until Sept. long weekend. :o|

the gt 20 is to small on the turbine side, it has way too much backpressure and will cause higher egts and less hp, you will wreck the engine with continued use. the gt25 is a much better choice. it is our base turbo and works great for all applications, if you want alittle more hp, and are willing to give up alittle low end response, then the gt28 is for you. i can set you up with either turbo that will be a direct bolt on to your kit. as for turbo sizing. you have to look at the maps to see where you are, and where you want to be, there is alot that goes into sizing a turbo. jeff
Thanks for the response Jeff, but I wasn't intending to be in the 15+ lbs of boost, wanted to keep it trailable. I would have went to the GT25 and am still considering that, but I figured that the 20 could very effectively push 10lbs. without wrecking the motor. I agree that the GT25 is a much better option. I spoke to Jim from BPE and he told me that he would be looking at the maps to see where I can run this thing effectively. I managed to crank it up to about 9.5lbs from 7-8 lbs. by adjusting the waste gate. So far though I've only managed to test it this weekend at some airport drags, which is done once a year and traction was the big issue. I'll see how it goes when I get it out to a regular 1/4 mile track, then I'll be able to compare my times, hopefully in the 9's. If I don't get there this year, there could very well be a 25 that will be bolted in.

Thanks Buddy!

That is my 1st perfect reaction time!

I just need to get that girl to hook up with me on it.

(I wonder if that should be in the mature thread?)

Tom, Ryan, Ryan's friend, and myself will be running at Kaukauna (WIR) tonight. Weather looks great!!!!!!!! 70's with no humidity, and very little wind.

(Are we in Wisconsin?) Doesn't seem like it.

Have fun guys.
Looks like there actually may be some decent weather here too. Mid 80's with low humidity. I hope so anyway. I'm hoping to drop at least another tenth in the next 2 weeks, so we'll see what happens. 8)

hlmrx1, the compressor side of the gt20 is fine, its the turbine side thats to restictive, even at low boost levels, the gt20 turbos turbine side holds in too much heat and back pressure and will eventually hurt the engine if driven in the right circumstances long enough. the gt25 has more flow on the turbine side to better match the compressor side. because of this it will also make more hp per pound of boost, so you can actually run less boost and make the same or better power which improves dependability. jeff

wir

Well jus got home from the strip.
My buddies 01 srx ran a 10.78 with stock clutching all he did was tighten the rear shock.

The vector gained 3 hundreths with the white knuckle exhaust.I put in some supertips from aulmer racing and a helix and ran 11.10@109.8mph with the rpm's at 8250 I was going to take a little weight out of the tip but was too busy.
