Asphalt Results 2005

I have always wanted to race a sled on a drag strip but never wanted to mess with my daily driver so a couple of mouths ago I bought a vmax 4. I got the track, skis, pipes and other things just took it apart and put it back together with racing in mind. I will figure out the set up, clutching and jetting as I go but where should I start for gearing for a 1/4 mile? It has 20 top and 35 bottom.

what rpm pipes do you have. That makes a big difference with gearing.

I would start out around 23/37 gearing. Also get a hold of YamiGod3:16 on amsnow he has a lot of expeirence with the vmax 4's

thank you I'm on the very beginning of a big learning curve. But you have to start somewhere.

Hey Green, any ?'s, let us know...........we will definetly try to help.

Tyler, I need someone to tow me to staging, and then back to the trailer, are you game?

Wisconsin International Raceway - May 1, 2005
(I think I saw more snow falling today, than this whole year by us. High of 49 degrees, and 96% humidity. Snow flakes came down sparatically all day. Headwind of 14mph)

1st time run - Tried a 49/41 helix with set at 80%, otherwise same as last week. Pulled the skis about 3 ft. Ryan (pro116) said, than drifted toward centerline. Had to lift. Lane 1
1.624 60ft. - 7.197 1/8mile @ 94.193mph - 11.526 1/4mile @ 110.654mph

2nd time run - Set secondary down to 60%, same helix. Lane 2
1.532 60ft. - 6.955 1/8mile @ 94.321mph - 11.251 1/4mile @ 110.410mph

1st round - Left everything as second time run. Dialed 11.35, Lane 2
1.521 60ft. - 6.943 1/8mile @ 94.086mph - 11.462 1/4mile @ 95.936mph
Passed my opponent, and lifted to not break out. **Win**

2nd round - Same. Dialed 11.35, Lane 1
1.639 60ft. - 6.996 1/8mile @ 95.293mph - 11.288 1/4mile @ 111.120mph
Everyone said I pulled the skis straight up and out of the lights, so I redlighted by -.087 (If you look at my avatar, you might have seen something like that in lane 1 today.) Lost round 2
I believe I am still in the top 3 right now.

;)!

yamahajunkie - I haven't hit the button yet, but will be very soon. I am working on getting the Wahl suspension dialed in, cause it is new to me, and need to do alot of adjusting and tuning, so I can get my 60 footers down to the mid 1.4's

I am hoping I can shoot the spray tomorrow night, but they are predicting rain tomorrow thru Sunday. I have the 60 horse setup on it right now, and will be trying 80 horse this season also.

80 yyyyyyyyyyyaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhooooooooooo!!!!!!! keep us posted in that. you have a stock motor with stock gaskets right? thanks junkie

junkie - Everything is stock on the engine, right down to the jetting, spark plugs, stock gearing, and airbox. I have Holtzman green springs in the carbs, QC1 White Knuckle Performance exhaust, and clutching.

This is what I really needed to do, was make a killer RX1, with only a few mods that work.

Talking scattered storms tonight, but hope to get a couple runs in. Tomorrow (Sat.) calls for on and off clouds, and 60's.
