Guys, Got out to NYIRP last night for some testing/racing…
Off the trailer I ran it on low boost to see what she will do. This is the boost I’ll be running when I bracket race so I wanted to see what the sled would do. That run was ¼mi - 9.31 @ 141.84mph. Was happy with that so we put her on high boost and ran the rest of the night.
I seem to be hitting the wall with the sled at high boost. So, I started with some different gearing and clutching/suspension combo’s. Best run of the night was a 8.74, but the good part about the night is that my gearing change got me consistently in the low 150mph (150.45~152.80). ET’s were all in the mid/high 8.7’s ~ low 8.8’s. Going out on Wednesday night for one last time before the race at ESTA on July 8/9th and try and get the 60ft’s down a little more.

Mike-
will you be running on Friday night? I should get things back together this week, and would like one extra day of testing before the weekend.

I meant Friday at NYIRP. ESTA will be having a friday night test and tune coming up from the rain out yesterday, but not for a couple weeks.
If I get everything back together tomorrow I may make the trip on Wednesday then. I'll give ya a call if everything looks good.

I am so tired of the stupid weather here!!!!
Saturday had more storms thru the area, with 1 inch hail in Manitowoc, and 3 inch hail in Potter, which is close to the track.
WIR Night of Fire
Temp of 91 degrees, and 65% humidity. Track wanted to get the show on the road, cause of the bad weather coming, so we started racing at 5pm. Headwind was bad at 30+ mph
1st time run - lane 1, track temp 118, bar 28.86, reaction .136
1.523 60ft - 7.019 1/8 @ 94.421mph - 11.383 1/4 @ 109.582mph
2nd time run - lane 2, track temp 119, bar 28.86, reaction .106
1.539 60ft - 7.032 1/8 @ 94.728mph - 11.379 1/4 @ 109.172mph
1st round - lane 2, dial-in 11.37, reaction .159
1.519 60ft - 6.998 1/8 @ 94.902mph - 11.378 1/4 @ 105.392mph
won round 1 on the brakes to not break out.
2nd round - lane 1, dial-in 11.24, reaction .113
1.526 60ft - 6.965 1/8 @ 96.036mph - 11.361 1/4 @ 97.147mph
won round 2 on the brakes to not break out.
3rd round - lane 1, dial-in 11.24, reaction -.091
1.519 60ft - 6.952 1/8 @ 96.053mph - 11.237 1/4 @ 112.634mph
redlighted, lost round 3
as you can see, the wind really plays a factor when running at fast speeds. Wind dipped down 15mph for round 2 and 3
Well, 2nd place right now, and only behind by 1 point, so the battle is on.

Well guys made it out this weekend for some regular racing points and managed to make it to the final round on Sunday only to loose due to a combination of breaking out and bad reaction time. My opponent broke out too, but by less. Had I known I guess I could have hit the brakes at the last second, but I wasn’t expecting to break out. Monday I was knocked out in the first round, but that race was awesome, our reaction times were almost identical and I caught him, and figured I was ahead of him but wasn’t. I was running in the high 9’s all day, but had to sandbag with a 10.00 dial as I don’t have my license yet. Managed to set another record ET this weekend, which had a lot to do with suspension setting and favorable wind. To make this short I’ll just post the actual rounds. Best ET so far is 9.9620 on 10lbs. Brought my 60’ down from 1.49~1.50 to 1.4651 with some minor suspension changes.
Sunday
Rnd 1, dial-in 10.05, reaction .6150
60’ 1.5201 – 1/8 mile 6.3899 @109.71 – ¼ mile 10.1619 @120.63
Opponent let off just before finish and I let off as soon as I went by him.
Rnd 2, dial-in 10.05, reaction ..4902
60’ 1.4996 – 1/8 mile 6.33189 @109.69 – ¼ mile 10.0676 @125.78
Opponent red lighted before me and I didn’t realize I had red lighted, I ran it out the back door.
Rnd 3, dial-in 10.05, reaction .6249
60’ 1.5082 – 1/8 mile 6.3559 @110.11 – ¼ mile 10.1020 @129.37
Got lucky with a bye, sled lifted off the line, and bogged.
Rnd 4, dial-in 10.06, reaction .6390
60’ 1.4940 – 1/8 mile 6.3150 @109.99 – ¼ mile 10.0888 @121.33
Opponent snoozed at the line with a .735, I had dialed up as I wasn’t running the number, but notice the speed, I caught him and let off and still ran a 10.09.
Rnd 5, dial-in 10.05, reaction .6440
60’ 1.4909 – 1/8 mile 6.3000 @109.24 – ¼ mile 9.9971 @129.55
Dialed back down, sled launched right and I had to lean, but stayed on it. I didn’t think I would break out having launched to the right like that, so I was trying to catch him, but managed to only get even with his back wheels, hindsight, should have backed off. Oh well, that offset my costs for the weekend and I managed to rack up some points!!!!
Monday
Rnd 1, dial-in 10.00, reaction .5339
60’ 1.5130 – 1/8 mile 6.2960 @110.01 – ¼ mile 10.0141 @124.00
Finally I was getting my reaction time down and figured I had this one, notice the speed, I had slowed down as I had caught him and figured I was ahead, but misjudged. Man that line comes fast!!! His reaction time was almost the same at .5321. Lost by .0061, how many inches would that be at 124.00mph?

Way cool Don!
Getting your liscense insn't that hard.....Just have to make a starting line launch/ an 300ft. pass/ an 1/8 mile/ and a 1/4 mile with them watching. Then signatures from 3 other liscensed people.

Well, just got back from Wed night Test N' Tune. Did pretty well I think for a first timer on a first time sled, came away with a 9.744 @ 135.74 mph. I'm so hooked now, what a riot. Gotta say thanks to everybody that gave me suggestions when setting this thing up, especially Terry for the suspension setup, really helped a bunch.
1st run, sled hooked but pulled toward the wall, had to get out of the throttle, carried the skis all the way down, rpms were only 9700.
RT--- .301
60'---1.751
1/8---6.712
mph--107.11
1/4---10.506
mph--126.03
2nd run sled hooked again but had to get out of it to straighten, carried the skis way too much again, rpms still down.
RT---.229
60'---1.756
1/8---6.683
mph--105.86
1/4---10.482
mph--125.76
3rd run, dialed down the transfer, and decided to turn up the boost instead of pulling weight out of the clutch. Spun a little, then hooked, had to get out of it to straighten it up again.
RT---.306
60'---1.765
1/8---6.489
mph--114.11
1/4---10.049
mph--134.89
4th run, same setup, knew my 60's were too slow so I launched a little harder, sled went straight and true all the way, good clean run.
RT---.376
60'---1.582
1/8---6.213
mph--115.19
1/4---9.744
mph--135.74
5th run, same setup but had my little brother drive, first time ever down the quarter mile and check out the RT, sled pulled toward the wall so he had to get out of it.
RT---.044
60'---1.755
1/8---6.514
mph--113.53
1/4---10.061
mph--135.66
6th run had my buddy ride who is really light, was his first time down the strip, he also had to get out the the throttle to correct it but ended up running a 9.9xx at 136.xx mph.
Overall was really happy for the first time out, got some work to do on the 60' times, but I think thats mostly rider. The sled still has trail clutching in it too so there is deffinitely time to be gained there. Just ran out of time today, but I think mid or maybe low 9's is deffinitely in the future. Unfortunately I forgot the digital card for the camera so ran out of memory, no good videos this time.

Awesome job.
Wait until you get the suspension set up right and you run 1.4 60 ft you will be in the low to mid 9's.

The first two runs were at 10lbs, the rest were at 13lbs, actually a little under 13 I think, but it was hard to make myself look down at that speed. Deffinitely the fastest I've ever gone

Wow, I wonder if there's and more tuning left, I’ve finally got mine running at 10 and 12.5lbs. for the first time, and I’m expecting to be in the 9.7’s on the high boost. When I ran the 9.92 I didn’t have my 60’ times down, now I do and that’s why I managed a faster ET so far on low boost (9.86). Was there any wind and was it favorable? That will also make a difference in your ET’s. I’ll be back out on the weekend of the 15th and hopefully it won’t be a head wind and I can beat my old record on high boost. BTW, I'm running the same gearing as you are, my engagement is around 4500 or so. Anyway, good job!!!
