Asphalt results "2006"

BBY - Ryan and I were talking about that on Friday, and he suggested the same gearing you told me about. Will change this week.

So Terry, what are you running now and what are you thinking of trying? I'm running 25/38 now and was thinking of trying stock again, I was running stock until I turbo'd it, and have never tried running the 24/38 combo with my turbo. It would be interesting to see the results, especially the fact that you can run both with the stock then with the juice, whereas I can't turn off the extra hp.

I ran 24/38 in the RX1, and did well with that combo. Right now I am at 25/38. 24/38 let me run with and without the juice no problem. I have a couple combos to try.

;)!

Friday 6/23/06 - Was going to go to the track, but when I went to pick up the boys from daycare, there were 4 people standing around my oldest son, and 1 was holding a bloodstained towel on his head. Found out he fell and gashed his head open. So after 2 hours in the ER, he had to get 2 staples put in, so after that, it was too late to get to the track for test night.

Saturday 6/24/06 - Sunny and beautiful day turned into high winds, tornados, water spouts, hail and lots of rain. Temp was 74 with 48% humidity, which climbed to 82 just before the storm.

1st time run - same setup as last race - lane 2, 25mph headwind (reaction .080)
1.533 60ft - 6.949 1/8 @ 96.553mph - 11.208 1/4 @ 111.828mph

2nd time run - lane 1, 15mph headwind (reaction -.066)
1.543 60ft - 6.935 1/8 @ 97.387mph - 11.169 1/4 @ 113.612mph

Just before 1st round, the storm moved in and cut the races short. A couple of pics as I drove away from the track. 2 water spouts and a tornado touched down 4 miles from the track.

Next week will be better....

well guys, I hurt my motor. Looks like I'll be out for a while. :o|
This is what I was afraid of, but at least I know why my times were so far off.

checked compression on Sunday. 220, 220, 220, 90. Pulled the valve cover just to make sure one wasn't sticking and they were all within spec. My guess now is a scored cylinder. Most likely happened durring the winter and putting more power down on the track made it worse.

Matt, I was so nervous in the ER, and I don't know why???? I have been there a million times.

LOL

I guess Millineum can repair one hole now on the RX-1 and Apex blocks. When they first started doing them they had to replate all four holes and it was pricey. I want to say it's about 175.00 per whole now. If I was you I'd get a set of wisco Low compression Pistons and get them Coated. That will be the bulk of your cost. Plus you'll need to replace every gasket in the motor.

Depending on the damage to the block. To get one cylinder nicasiled is $750-800 from Millenium. It's been about a year since I had one done, but that was the cost at the time. Master of Faster would know a more current price as his motor went down during the winter and he had one cylinder repaired.

If it's not smoking blue out the exhaust and seems to fire on all 4 cylinders it can't be hurt that bad. Trust me when you blow a piston or hurt the block you know it's hurt. Usually it will build so much crankcase pressure it will blow the seals out under the valve cover if it's a piston or block wound. I would start by pulling the head and if there's no visual damage after that start checking the valves.

Fred and Bob told me that you can get one done now. Not sure if that's true or not.

You can get a single cylinder done. It's alot more labor to do it though due to setup, etc. It will cost you about $800 to have a block fixed (only doing 1 cylinder). I had 1 cylinder fixed just over a year ago and it was $800.

well, after considering the above comments, I am leaning towards a burnt/warped valve. The sled runs on all 4 cylinders, and there is no appearant noise when running. There is also no smoke or residue from the exhause or crank case breather.

Either way the cylinder head has to come off to see what the deal is.

Stay tuned....

Run #1 10lbs. spun off line.
1.54 60’ – 6.42 1/8mi. @ 109.71mph – 10.17 ¼mi. @ 129.27

Run #2 10lbs. tightened rear suspension sprin, spun off line then hooked up.
1.54 60’ – 6.40 1/8mi. @ 110.33mph – 10.14 ¼mi. @ 129.64

Run #3 10lbs. boost, went to the right, leaned and stayed on it.
1.50 60’ – 6.35 1/8mi. @ 107.65mph – 10.10 ¼mi. @ 127.88

Run #4 10 lbs. launched good.
1.51 60’ – 6.32 1/8mi. @ 110.81mph – 10.04 ¼mi. @ 130.50

Elimination Round #1 10lbs. good launch, opponent red lighted, ran it out the back door.
1.51 60’ – 6.32 1/8mi. @ 107.66mph – 10.04 ¼mi. @ 126.80

Elimination Round #2 10lbs. good launch, opponent got me on the light, couldn’t catch him so just as he was about to hit the finish line I hit the brakes in case we would both break out, which we didn’t so I lost.
1.51 60’ – 6.37 1/8mi. @ 110.27mph – 10.13 ¼mi. @ 121.58

The day was clear and hot, started at 25c and got up to 29c with 42% humidity dropping to 36%, no wind to start, then a 10-15kph wind from the back right hand side. My buddies were out with their cats, a 95 ZRT800 with a 1000 in it and his best time I believe was a 10.60 and my other buddy was out with a 93 Thundercat 900cc and he ran a 10.88 at 118.39mph, but I’m not sure if this was his best, this was his first time out ever and he thought it was a rush and thanked me for getting him involved. I just told him that I hope he doesn’t kill himself, otherwise his wife may kill me, but then if she has good insurance on him, she may thank me, lol. The track was not that busy so I asked to go for a test run and cranked the boost at bit, here are the results,,,,

Play Run Cranked the boost to 12.5 lbs. launched good, but spun quite a bit, hardly any lift.
1.55 60’ – 6.31 1/8mi. @ 113.29mph – 9.93 ¼mi. @ 134.45

This is a new record for me, and I figure I can get a little more out of it depending on the hook up, don’t think I’ll go any higher with the boost as I don’t want to put a whole bunch on money into it.

Next weekend is a long weekend, and the big boys should be out, I can’t make it for the Saturday runs as the local fair is on and I promised my kid that we would stay home for one day to attend, so I should be their for Sunday and Monday, hope it doesn’t rain.

Monker, what are you running for boost on your SC?
