Important thing is the bottle didn't break. Tunnels can be fixed.SRX. Yamaha tunnel bag. Spare belts, tool kit, and a 60oz plastic whiskey bottle! Got into some rough trails one day this weekend. Got to the motel and my tunnel has caved in on the back. its brutal.
Will be installing a 1/2" piece of puckboard in the bottom of my bag to hopefully absorb the hits.

Made a few changes to design and expect sample plates this weak. Still actively working on this product.

True!! But not sure how you fix a caved in tunnel with the heat exchanger underneath! The whiskey was consumed!

Put 700 miles on my sled this past week. Ran the whole time with at least the 2 gallon rotopax set up as shown below. I also had a linq bag with my gear/food ect on the trips to and from the truck. No tunnel buckling yet with the stiffener plates in place!
For those wandering the rotopax setup is working great too. I'm now utilizing BRP cam locks which I bolt to the base. Very slick!

How do the rivets outside look.

Pretty much have these plate finished up. The plate will locate with an existing hole in tunnel. In my photo it has the rivet stuck in it. Once you pin it to that hole you just let the plate rest against the angled ledge and then proceed to drill out all the holes. Once the holes are drilled in the tunnel you then put plate on the inside and rivet it fast.
All photos I have seen of bent tunnels have buckled the tunnel where my plates are mounted. The tunnel extension itself does not bend.
All my testing has been with the gas caddy mounted back on tunnel too. Many remove the stock bag so they can mount the linq farther forward, but to me that is a waste not being able to keep the stock bag.
Thinking retail will be around $50 for (2) stiffeners and rivets.

Few minor tweaks to the plate and I think I finally have it. Want that top edge to be parallel to top of tunnel. Also relocated some rivet holes to ensure drill doesn't interfere. Should have the sample in a week or two for a final fit up and then I will get them up on the website for purchase.

Will the plate now go on the outside of the tunnel instead of the inside as you reported earlier?

If you want to you can. Its your template to drill holes in tunnel so you fit it up outside first. Once holes drilled I envision it going inside.

17mm (almost 3/4”).
Of all the little things that piss me off about the sled, yet are fixable and we deal with... this one drives me the craziest and is not really fixable.
My fault Of course... Yamaha will not stand behind it.

You should see the front of my tunnel (at least its hidden) Louvres are all bent and tunnel warped. Must have been ice. This tunnel is about as strong as tissue. Took gas tank, and head off to install more rivets and beat it straight.
I feel your pain.

I envision a rigid alum plate to serve as base inside the bag. The plate would displace a concentrated load such as a tool bag.

The reason I have always liked the LinQ attachment points(BRP). All the weight is spread to outside edges at corners. The center has no strength.
What does your SRX look like from below?? That just sucks.

Why are these tunnels so weak? When we went on our saddlebag trip the last few seasons we had the stackable 4 gallon fuel caddy on the back of my wife's sled along with two linq bags and no problems. I talked to a guy with a turbo Cat that said he bent his tunnel with a 2 gallon caddy. He couldn't believe I had a 4 gallon on the back of my wife's sled and the tunnel didn't bend.
It must be in the design or is it the thickness of material?
