Barely warm too the touch. I was thinking of changing it as it didn't feel like it was 100%. New belt and it feels good again. Will probably shim the secondary when I bring it home this weekend.

Maybe it was just the miles on it. It's unknown how many miles the 8 jp belt will last at this horsepower.

Just got back from testing on a lake now that I shimmed my helix. Really crappy conditions as it was wind swept ice with only patches of powdery snow, conditions couldn't have been much worse as I have an IceRipper and not real studs. But the good news is that I could roll into it and then pinned it after about 1 mile and held it for a good 3000 feet. Speedo showed 127 consistently but best GPS speed I could manage was 116 and the track spin was really noticeable (I know, not real smart) clutches were nice and cool after 2 back to back runs. I'll hopefully confirm this weekend while riding in WI and UP, but I feel confident the shims fixed it, since the best I could muster previously was 112 before the belt blew. I also had the 35/39 Dalton Helix on, but in these conditions couldn't really tell anything.

Well I was really hoping I would never have to be on this post. 375 miles of abuse on this 8jp belt. 28f temp out runnng Wot in 12 inches of deep powder so much fun just floating along and ploooie my belt broke. Before the guys could turn around and come back I had the back up 8dn on and side panel almost back on. Got back home took the helix off and checked the spring and no paint missing except for the ends where it seats. I do have one roller that has a noticeable flat spot. One thing I did right before this ride was installed my goggle bag I got. Clutches were warm but not hot to touch. Going to,the dealer soon.

I hope we get a fix for this.
Has anyone blew an 8dn belt?

I am all stock except for studs and Osp belt adjuster and Alpha tubes. I would think warranty would cover roller flat spots but what about a belt blowing at 375 miles. Shouldn't be happening imo. I will be asking my dealer.

Ouch I better go take a better look. Mine hardly made a lot of noise when it let go.Ya. I asked my dealer too. Especially because of the clutch damage from belt blowing. And panel damage.
The dealer told me if I bring it in they will try a warranty claim but no guarantees.
Picture of clutch damage. ( bent the ear )

Are you speaking of the cast movable sheeve, between the cover bolts? That looks bad,not sure I have ever seen damage like that on a sheeve before from a blown belt, wow you may have to have it replaced.Ya. I asked my dealer too. Very interested in how much belt deflection you run with your OSP ADJUSTER? How far over or under are you on the secondary sheaves with your belt? I know this is probably a strange question. But I have some opinions on some stuff I noticed with this secondary and belt deflection. Mainly I feel the belt needs to be below the sheaves. And on my sled the lower I put it the harder and better contact the rollers have with helix. Not saying you want the belt way below sheaves, BUT at least 1/16. It's amazing the difference in roller contact when running my belt 1/16 under sheaves compared to level with sheaves or above. Talking stock belt.I am all stock except for studs and Osp belt adjuster and Alpha tubes. I would think warranty would cover roller flat spots but what about a belt blowing at 375 miles. But what does deflection or belt height adjustment have to do with belt blowing or speed for that matter. I guess if way off it could heat belt up on launch but after engagement it is doing nothing at all.Very interested in how much belt deflection you run with your OSP ADJUSTER? Thanks
Thanks for the help I am running stock 8jp belt and yes I am under the edge by 1/16! That's where it was when I picked up sled so that's where I have it set. I did notice awhile ago I always had one roller I could spin easily. I threw on a spare 8dn belt to get me back. Still pulled hardVery interested in how much belt deflection you run with your OSP ADJUSTER? How far over or under are you on the secondary sheaves with your belt? I just want to get to the bottom of why belts are grenading I ran a 8dn on my Viper for for 2 years with zero issues. Guys threw turbos on there Vipers and wham 8jps were exploding. Not saying other belts were blowing cause they were but the 8jp seems to be a problem child with turbos. But what does deflection or belt height adjustment have to do with belt blowing or speed for that matter. I ran 750 (650 boosted) miles on my original 8jp. I was not easy on it. No belt problems at all. I just switched secondaries...so I put a new belt so initial testing would be done with a new belt. My old one still looks good. I honestly don't know why some guys are having issues?
Looks that way Bleed. Make the switch and go from there if nothing is obvious. Its the best bet and quick fix if it works. Season is half over.
