Looking at the 850comp...Another reason it’s enjoyable to have a two stroke again. Everyone has a turbo four stroke that’s “fast”. Lol
1)Super fast out of the box
2) lite & flickable (my first XP was a little over 400 lb 800carb/pull only) not exactly sure how heavy the 850 comp is?
3) motors are near 4s in durability
4) cost per mile is unbelievable
Hmm. Yep, definitely something to consider.
Just one other question... Pretending any of the above was true. Quite a few of the 998t can run 140mph+ (1320) in trail form.
Do a lot of 2smoke turbos run those numbers?
Asking for a friend.

What kind of set and hp to do that?
I know header tunes are fast when compared to same tune without header, and ice means faster speeds, but I’d like to hear who can achieve those numbers with what tunes and mods in 1320’?

Yes, followed you through your build and your quest for that elusive number, and also viewed some of your drone footage. You hang with a great group of people all looking for more each year, and what you've documented here on TY has been very impressive for us bystanders!!
So stage 6 includes, cams, head gasket, header, different head studs, fuel pump and regulator??? and what tune? Does it also include non stock valve springs?
Yes, As I've stated 140 is FAST in 1340', WOW! and I've seen that you still use this sled for trail use and get impressive MPG with it!

On top of what you already listed I have high RPM valve springs and retainers, anti shim spitting buckets, manual chain tensioner, electronic wastegate and alot of chassis work.
The back to back 1320' passes of 140.7 and 140.8 were made on MS17 with 4.5lbs of boost added on the boost timer.
I'm going to start playing with timing and fuel this year. New goal of 143 in 1320'. Not sure if it is realistic but I'm sure going to give it my best shot.

Love hearing just how much knowledge and technical expertise it takes to get to that speed on the 998!Thank you. This passion basically consumes every free second I have.

Still no snow anywhere near me this year so nothing to report on the 850 turbo.
This thread is comical to say the least. I still think most here are missing the point of this new sled. It was never intended to be the "Lake King". It's designed to be a fast bump sled. Is it faster on the trail than a stock SW? Hard to say with the lack of snow everywhere but I'd bet money it rides better and is easier on my body at the end of the day.
As for the smell, I'll agree I can tell when I'm coming up on a 2s when riding my SW. When riding with a 2s in my group or personally on one, you don't notice the smell once running. That's not to say it isn't there, I think you just get used to it.
Oil cost on a 2s is a factor especially at $70 per gallon. Compare that with an oil change on a 4s dollar wise, you are ahead after the first 1.25ish gallons of 2s oil. What I do factor in is my time to do the 4s oil change and will say I'm tired of it. Topping off the oil every day is much easier. Snowmobiling is not a cheap sport and a few hundred bucks a year in oil and ice will not make or break my budget.
With all that said, I also picked up a new SXS this year. No snow up north to ride on this coming weekend so I'll be on the SXS. Before anyone get's their undies in a bunch, I will be on the fire roads and ATV trails only.

It's not going to dethrone the 998t, as "king of the lakes" Costs a bit more to ride per mile. Technically...it's the baddest, hi tech 2s build ever, to come from the manufacturers.
And I would assume the chassis matches. Everything we've ever wanted in a 2smoke.
I think many get confused at the term "modified" this means a simple air induction set up, all the way up to a full build. Sky's the limit. Once that happens....does it really matter?
Once you cross the line, all bets are off, to each his own ...
Enjoy all your toys, Very good looking stuff!

What's with all the love and excitement over the Comp 850? It's pretty obvious the Polaris Boost puts it on the porch.

I think they missed that point. Lol
They are going to be fun to beat though as well.
Mustard bucket lol
Confused that’s a nice rig. I have a 23 ranger crew ultimate I’m going to sell to get the new machine like yours. That’s a step up in quality.
JT I’d say we are looking at hopefully February for some hope of having rideable snow. 45 day forecast is garbage in N Wi
As far as King of the lake.
Usually not a 998 and almost always a 1100 base

You clarified better some of the points I was trying to make. Especially the smell. Coming from a 97 SX700 my Reima Yamaha coat smelled like 2 stroke until the 2nd Apex (Attak) I bought and it lived in the garage. Now my gear bag has basically no odor from the mountain trips with all 2Ss and it lives under the stairs next to my wife's home office.Still no snow anywhere near me this year so nothing to report on the 850 turbo.

I have ridden Maine trails with multiple Skidoo 850s and none yet can pound beat up trails the way my '17 SW LTX LE does. I do like the lighter Backcountry XRS and I'm able to bounce off trail (where legal) with a lot more confidence than the SW as it is.
We buy the Skidoo oil by the barrel as well. Watch out for grenading chaincases on the 23 and 24 Skidoo 850s.

LOL...I would take second place on my 998 over having to ride something that sounds as bad as those Suzuki Twins!Usually not a 998 and almost always a 1100 base
