Evolution Powersports Magnum Muffler, DNR Approved!!

Can you get your hands on a true decibel meter? I wouldn't trust a smart phone app to be very accurate.

Mighty, I have a decibel meter (calibrated) at work right now that I use for machines. I tested this against my smart phone app and was pretty close....but as mentioned, I want the final word from the Wi DNR Agent.

Cant get any more OFFICIAL than that. Imagine EVOs selling power with a DNR endorsement, I mean come on, the Cubs did win the world series.

Looks sneaky enough behind the factory heat shield that it just might fly in Ontario. Will this be the quiestest muffler that evo will offer?

Copied this from EVO's post where they are testing and dynoing the Sidewinder. Stopped by Jim last weekend and saw his Magnum Muffler for the Sidewinder. Told me to take the Magnum and do some decibel testing to see if the Magnum Muffler creates HPR and is still trail friendly....The answer is YES!!!! Great job once again EVO!

Videos are on my FB page right now if you are friends with me. There are 2 stock videos showing idle, rev to 2,800 engagement and a couple throttle hits on the grass....and 2 videos with the Magnum Muffler at idle and a couple hits on the grass.....all while my sound meter is in view of the camera.

My decibel meter showed 83-84 decibels at the recommended 13.1 ft. I have a DNR Agent coming to my house to verify those readings late this week or early next week, but is definitely within the 88 decibel limit. This Magnum should be very close to production....but what you see here is still prototype as it is the first muffler built. The sound, decibel readings will stay the same....but some brackets may be changed.

Plus, this Magnum muffler has all of the mounts for the heat shields to be put back in place :)

EVO's post....

Here is a picture of our 304 Stainless, TIG welded "Magnum" Quiet exhaust for the Sidewinder/Thundercat. The dyno gains were the same as our bullet, so + 10-11 hp. It saves about 5 lbs over the OEM and has a nice deep tone without being loud. Our exhausts are 100% made in the USA of 304 Stainless and TIG welded. We manufacture our own exhaust cans - rather than buy an off the shelf car muffler - they are custom made for each application so they fit in the space available. Both our Bullet and Magnum exhausts utilize the factory heat shields and use all of the OEM supports. For those who don't know, adding an exhaust does not raise the boost pressure of the OEM tune. The ECU targets a very specific value and if it is deviated from even slightly, the ecu will correct for it. Tuning is going very well and if the weather cooperates, we should be on snow testing in 2 weeks.

Yes, the Magnum is the quietest muffler.....But they also sell the Bullet muffler which is targeted for racers and guys in the mountains.

I will let Jim @EVO 1 give you the specifics.....but I can easily get to the chaincase adjuster bolt. Hpr was said to be about the same between the 2 mufflers, Bullet and Magnum.

Confirmed....3:15 pm appointment this Monday with Wi DNR to verify sound test on the EVO Magnum Muffler.

I just watched your videos. You can just tell that sled wants to go! It's going to be an exciting season for sure. I'm thinking in a year or so I will just quietly switch my viper for a sidewinder and my wife wont even know the difference. They're in the garage up north she never looks in there. :) It will have to be blue of course.

Thanks for all you do for this site.

Cool. What are we looking at as far as test parameters? WI is 88 db at what 13 feet? Idle and then you rev it up or what? Put sled on stand? Thanks for the Info. Curious how they test in the field

Every state is different.... Wisconsin is 88 decibels at 13.1 feet and that is at idle.

This was in Michigan last year when they were trail side and we were all checked. The piped Polaris in our group got a hefty fine...Think is was $250?
