Evolution Powersports Magnum Muffler, DNR Approved!!

Every state is different.... Wisconsin is 88 decibels at 13.1 feet and that is at idle.

This was in Michigan last year when they were trail side and we were all checked. The piped Polaris in our group got a hefty fine...Think is was $250?

Ontario is the worst... anything modified any you get a ticket. I needed a new can for 98 mach once it rotted out. Can wasn't any louder than stock. Buddy had a loud pipe and got our group pulled over. Modified exgaust ticket later...

So if they pull you over in a car or truck and make you pop the hood - you get a ticket for not using stock spark plugs???
IN USA this is called -----------violation of federal restraint of trade laws and is engaging in discriminatory and monopolistic actions

Nothing chaps my #*$&@ more then the Harley guys that get a pass in WIS.. Nothing personal against bikes at all . But its bad here
That's because Harley fights any regulation that will affect their noise level. They are organized and have very good lawyers and sound experts. These experts will help any club fight by doing legal sound tests using $100000+ equipment. When the town tried to shut our ride area down these sound experts proved we weren't making anymore noise outside our club property than the normal traffic on the road makes and this held up legally all the way to the WI State Supreme Court. I am not a Harley guy but I do have respect for them and what they did. Basically noise is objective and Decibles are facts. When I was a third shifter was a dang Mourning Dove that would sit out my window and really tick me off. Same thing. Now that said I do agree when the windows are shaking from loud pipes or the Bass Boomers at 3 in morning it's bull.

Loud pipes save lives. Anyone really believe the rinky dink horn that comes on a bike is going to help prevent an incident with inattentive driver?
As for a sled, apples to oranges comparison.

4 strokes dont seem to get bothered much. Pretty much everyone in my riding group has a sled louder than stock. Only person to ever get a ticket was a few years ago, buddy was on an srx with a loud muffler. We even have a couple turbo cats with 3 inch exhausts in our group, no tickets the last 2 seasons. Only one cop mentioned about being louder than stock.

I got one on my Viper it was an OSP can. Way too loud. Rode with it about 200 miles and sold it.

Today is the day for testing .... 3:15pm

Couldn't agree with you all anymore than what was said.... The Harley's are a huge problem here with straight pipes. I'm all for things sounding good, but c'mon....

11/7/16 DNR Agent came out to my house to do decibel readings on the Evolution Powersports Magnum muffler.

Here are the measurements of how the sled gets tested. Wisconsin rules say the distance measurement is 13.1 feet from the center of the sled, same side as the exhaust side and the meter has to be 48 inches from the ground. The sled must be warmed up and held at 2,500 rpm's and must be under 88 decibels.....per their paperwork. The Agent also took my paperwork about the 4 stroke engagement to be totally sure everything was on the up and up.

The bad thing is the meter was giving the agent problems. Installed new batteries and still wouldn't work correctly so now Friday the agent will be back and perform the test once again.

Checked my phone decibel meter app to the calibration device and it was very close....but is not calibrated so a final reading will be with their meter when it's working correctly. But this showed me that the app is very close. With that said....the EVO Magnum muffler passes my sound meter test 5 decibels under the limit.

Pictured along with the Agent is another TY member who came to watch the process.

Awesome stuff thanks for the info on testing in WI. Thinking that can will pass easy..
They usually give a TINY bit of slack on them depending on the Warden.
Michigan does give some leeway for sure. At least from what I read and hear from others..
Kinda depends what your getting stopped for also(if you blow a stop sign or speed and or drive out of control)(AKA hot dogging it) - you better be UNDER for sure.

I thought Michigan was going to give some leeway to a friend of ours during I-500 weekend....but no, he ended up with a $250 fine I believe it was.

You cannot modify your snowmobile’s exhaust in any manner that will amplify or increase the total noise emission above that emitted by the snowmobile as originally manufactured, regardless of date of manufacture. Excessive or unusually loud snowmobiles are illegal and hurt Wisconsin’s trail system.

I copied this from the DNR website. Please ask them about this?
