Ran 400 miles in subzero temps all weekend with the open 5/8" heater hose and it worked great. Tons of high speed open trails. I can't believe this has gone 17 pages. Talk about over-analyzing to the point of paralysis.
Couldn't agree more Doug! I know it works as I ran it for thousands and thousands of miles on my turbo 1200. The only thing I didn't know about was how the heat would affect the hose over a period of time, and now after 675 miles myself this last week, I can say it runs way hotter there than my 1200 did as the exhaust is right there. The clear hose if fine, but will become brittle I think, heater hose should stand up better over time.
So that said, I'm just doing the same 1/2" heater hose that RockerDan did. 1/2" or 3/4" will make no difference either way. Just don't roll em over and loose the oil like I said right from the beginning. We are in the flatland side of the forum anyway, not the mountain forum.
If the mountain guys roll over or crash all the time, sounds like they can do that multiple times an hour, then this is not the mod for them. (Remind me to never go mountain riding)! Maybe they should have the expensive electronic valve that checks the battery voltage, primes the pump and whatever else it does they need done I guess.
( KISS ), Keep it simple stupid, for me and I won't roll it over, if I do roll, I'll be sure to check the oil and the oil light too.
Thanks for all the tips Mike and Dan. Just finished mine up. I blocked off my ROV by adding a small hose to the nipple, then plugging it and clamping it. The rest went real slick and panel went on with no problem. Tried uploading a pic but it too large and I have no idea how to reduce the size on my iPad.

These are Cats, not Yamahas.
I wouldn't look to expect any updates or changes from Yamaha or Cat. The Winder is on its second year of production with no changes. LOL!
If you want something done, you'll have to do it yourself.

You guys actually believe that Yamaha has made more changes in the past than Cat? Really?

So today I took my intercooler off to have a look for oil and moisture that some are having. No oil or moisture in the intercooler whatsoever. So its real nice not to have all that oil and moisture in the cooler and hoses.
I also replaced my 3/4" clear hose with what I feel will take the heat better, some 1/2" Gates heater hose.

Dan when I took my hose off from the roll over valve to the intake it had a few ounces of milky water setting in the hose. I can't imagine that stuff going through the intake would be good for anything.Great fix.....no crap going back into the intake tract.....

Yeah it really can build up fast....I have not checked mine as I think I did mine early enough in mileage of sled, that I should have none or very very little....Dan when I took my hose off from the roll over valve to the intake it had a few ounces of milky water setting in the hose. I can't imagine that stuff going through the intake would be good for anything.
Were you able to remove a charge tube and drain it out?
I know my cat turbo had got alot of oil in charge tubes, so I would often clean them out....Not even sure if that sled had a similar setup back then.
