Yesso the only reason to put excess oil vapor into the air box is the EPA? If I bypassed the oil tube going to the air box I will no longer have oil everywhere inside engine compartment? The oil vent hose going back into the air box has no other function but regs?

Yes, EPA requires all engines to burn their own oil vapor. Unfortunately, in a turbo charged engine, this vapor must be introduced prior to the turbo which means it will oil up your turbo, hoses, and intercooler. Most modern car, truck, and industrial engine applications have a method of separating the majority of the oil from the vapor which causes less oil in the intake.

The pic I showed Steve was with the foil over the hose. After reading some replies I removed the foil and yes it was 5/8 oil hose. I still had it freeze shut on me. I was very surprised it happened and also very disappointed.2 things here:
1. The fan blades don't get lubricated. NO good comes from oil on the blades.
2. Wouldn't insulating the hose almost work against us here? The engine heat would help keep the hose from freezing.
----I think my "naked" hose had over 10,000 miles including a -24F day. NEVER froze. Oil Tank NEVER leaked again.
P.S:
"Naked Hose" refers to the 5/8ths oil hose i eliminated my ROV with.
I know i know...........in most cases you should always wrap your hose, but this may be the one time you don't

I was in denial for a long time, until a blown seal ruined a trip a couple weeks ago. That will never happen again!

While I have one trip on my deleted ROV, I've made it a habit to kick the end of the hose before startup, especially first startup of the day. I've found every time, some white oily ice falls on the ground. I could see this freezing up on a cold morning starts but not after running and stopping through the day.
I agree.

Bottom line is you cant just put this on and not watch it. You have to pay attention when it gets close to Zero (F) or below out, this is when it would happen. The pic I showed Steve was with the foil over the hose. Your belt will be happier as well. I am still chasing issues caused by blowing up a belt because of the oil dripping onto it from the air box. I'll know better this weekend but I'm fairly certain that when the belt blew it threw my timing out.... and that was last year. When I did my cai, the kit included a little k&n filter that goes into the hose that goes to the air box, I felt that was good enough, but I can still see it puking condensation/oil out from where it is mounted, so I'm pretty sure I am doing the delete as wellok, I'm getting this fixed...sick and tired of oil everywhere.

Not unless you can blow past the spring holding the valve shut, which I think you have to be a pretty big blow hard to do that. LOL.

That place has really gone down hill...
The 1200 forum was overall a real great group of guys, many that came from Yamaha four-strokes, so really decent nice & honest guys, but man are there some real winners there now on that 900 turbo forum. OMG I dont know where they all came from, had to come from the two-stroke side or something. Real boneheads and a bunch of know it alls, that honestly shouldn't even own a boosted four-stroke. We'll call them "squids".

That is why we all have the responsibility to make a concerted effort to maintain a positive and informative response on our forums. On totallyamaha we have a reputation of being positive and helpful to sledders of all levels of expertise. We need to keep that mindset and avoid biting when the trolls are fishing...always better to take the high road or say nothing.
