Have you guys heard this news about Arctic Cat?

20/80 you don't have a clue I'm more YAMAHA than you will ever be,I have owned and raced YAMAHA'S since I was 12 years old. That includes bike's, atv's, sxs's, and one more thing snowmobiles. I also have YAMAHA generator and hi fi in the garage. I'm pretty sure I forgot more stuff about YAMAHA'S then you will ever know. Having an opion is one thing but it's probably not a good idea to call guy's out and say they are not true blue because they ride a Viper or SideWinder. You just keep on talking like your lips don't match.

Yep.. its the people on this site that make this site what it is, hands down one of the best sites on the internet, lots of unbelievable expert tech guys with a world of experience when it comes to what works the best for your Yamaha and also great members that share their thoughts and experiences good or bad. Yamaha is a god!!!

That's quite a resume.. i'm impressed, my lips don't match?... oh I get it, like those old Kung Fu movies, good one!

Just asking a question how come anything cat was sacrilegious before 2014 but now ok because of an engine?
For me there was no need to speak of Cat. Now there is. I take that back. We did find the upper idlers from a Cat fit the Phazer and lasted much longer but other than that yea no reason too. Did put Doo idler mounts on SRX too. Does that count?

I just don't get some people all everybody did was bitch before 2014 they wanted something new with a lite weight chassis. So Yamaha teams up with Cat and gets the pro cross with probably the best front suspension on snow to date, the rear is not the best out there, but it is way better than Yamaha has ever had or tried to develop. I will be the first one to admit that the pro cross is not perfect but like I said a 100 times before there isn't one. So until that machine is made I will stick with Yamaha and deal with the small problems that come with the pro cross chassis. It is worth it in the end for me because of the suspension and ergo's alone. I know of a lot of Vipers and SideWinder out there with a lot of miles with no issues. YAMAHA is going to go down the path that is best for them and unfortunately are input means very little to them and it has always been that way. I personally think that this merger with Cat and Yamaha is going to last a lot longer than a lot of people think, and you know what? I hope it does, because I'm getting to old to go back to an all new YAMAHA like all you guys want because my back won't be able to take the out of date suspension it will have. I have bought new YAMAHA sleds since 1994(and a lot of used ones before that) and I new then and there that Yamaha was behind the times and they have been trailing the competition since but I have stuck with them with very little complaining because it is my choice. If you don't like the direction Yamaha is headed you need to move on to a different brand and then you might realize the grass is not always greener on the other side.

20/80 I understand your point of view as I too wasn't happy when this first happened back in 2014 as I'm a Yamaha die-hard.
Every year I heard rumors that Yamaha would be back on their own completely, so I stayed on a Nytro waiting patiently. Finally I came to my senses and realized Cat and Yamaha will be together for the foreseeable future so it was time to get over it, and move on to the Sidewinder in 18.
Looking back my only regret was not getting on the Winder in 17 and not getting on a Viper in 14!

I understand and respect your guy's opinion and I believe there is a lot of true blues waiting for a all new chassis from Yamaha, the Cat Yamaha agreement was a hold over till Yamaha got their feet back under them and realign when their plant in Japan got wiped out in a natural disaster, now the response with the co shared chassis and engine has been some what a win for Yamaha in their eye's as a good decision and has bought them some time but Yamaha knows it will come to a end, they will have to prepare for the future to stay in the sled business if this is their plans, this means their own new chassis, now I can't see Yamaha using updated old tech on a new chassis other than a updated sidewinder engine and viper engine plus I believe a few more new engines, but the chassis will be cutting edge and all new from the ground up, rest assured for the old guy's your back will feel quite comfy on their new chassis with their new rider forward seating, my opinion is that this end is near and the wraps will soon come off Yamaha's new iron, only one thing left... what do you guy's think you will get for your Vipers and Winders on a trade in.

Probably more then you’d get for an Apex

That was not ment to be a slam on the Apex

I'm confident Textron/Cat prefers their sled factory running at high capacity instead of partial capacity.
In addition, it just makes sense for Yamaha to build in North America, just like they've done with ATV's and other products.
It's what Trump wants too, lol

LOL, I wouldn't dare sell my Apex, its an awesome best handling best riding and most reliable powerful N/A 4stroke with best heart stopping sound ever produced, most other 4 strokes sound like farm tractors, you just got to love them, i'm so lucky to own one.

Back on topic, I hear that this new sled is using a single cylinder version of Cat's 800 engine. Would be about 75-80hp and light, probably would need counter balancer.
Interesting idea, but could be all rumor.

I have to agree, you just may see pure Yamaha sleds built in North America, the chassis anyway.
