That wasn't where I was going with that, however if that did come to fruition it would be because Textron sells them the sled division.I have to agree, you just may see pure Yamaha sleds built in North America, the chassis anyway.

could be a rumor, this engine would be a 2 stroke perhaps S charged to hit those Hp numbers.Back on topic, I hear that this new sled is using a single cylinder version of Cat's 800 engine. Would be about 75-80hp and light, probably would need counter balancer.
Interesting idea, but could be all rumor.

I don't see Yamaha wanting Cats sled division, they would have taken it over before Textron if they wanted it, so Yamaha Japan already made that decision, so that means Yamaha Japan has other plans. That wasn't where I was going with that, however if that did come to fruition it would be because Textron sells them the sled division.

No. They had no use for everything else that came with it like atv's etc.I don't see Yamaha wanting Cats sled division, they would have taken it over before Textron if they wanted it, so Yamaha Japan already made that decision, so that means Yamaha Japan has other plans.

Why would it need a SC to hit those numbers?could be a rumor, this engine would be a 2 stroke perhaps S charged to hit those Hp numbers.

20/80 I hate to keep calling you out on this, but I will. You said that Yamaha will bring out a new cutting edge technology chassis. Why do you think that they would all of sudden do this. They have never had one in the past(The Apex is by no means a cutting edge chassis)and i don't see them doing anything now. Maybe the Karpik's will sell them the rights to the m-10 but even that is old and out dated.

LOL, I wouldn't dare sell my Apex, its an awesome best handling best riding and most reliable powerful N/A 4stroke with best heart stopping sound ever produced, most other 4 strokes sound like farm tractors, you just got to love them, i'm so lucky to own one.

I don't think so, Yamaha knew Textron was taking over Cat products long before we ever new there was a hint of the sale, and no the atv and sxs was not the deciding factor why Yamaha didn't scoop up Cat.No. They had no use for everything else that came with it like atv's etc.

I would think a N/A single 400cc 2 stroke would have to be pretty much maxed out to hit 80hp on the dyno and be a trail machine, not saying it can't be done, just have not seen one in a sled that could do that yet, not sure what the old Bravo was spitting out, just sayingWhy would it need a SC to hit those numbers?

Hahahaha light weight chassi? My Sidewinder Btx weight 298kg! Thats a lot heavier than my old turbo Nytro 153" . Light weight my #*$&@I just don't get some people all everybody did was bitch before 2014 they wanted something new with a lite weight chassis. So Yamaha teams up with Cat and gets the pro cross with probably the best front suspension on snow to date, the rear is not the best out there, but it is way better than Yamaha has ever had or tried to develop. I will be the first one to admit that the pro cross is not perfect but like I said a 100 times before there isn't one. So until that machine is made I will stick with Yamaha and deal with the small problems that come with the pro cross chassis. It is worth it in the end for me because of the suspension and ergo's alone. I know of a lot of Vipers and SideWinder out there with a lot of miles with no issues. YAMAHA is going to go down the path that is best for them and unfortunately are input means very little to them and it has always been that way. I personally think that this merger with Cat and Yamaha is going to last a lot longer than a lot of people think, and you know what? I hope it does, because I'm getting to old to go back to an all new YAMAHA like all you guys want because my back won't be able to take the out of date suspension it will have. I have bought new YAMAHA sleds since 1994(and a lot of used ones before that) and I new then and there that Yamaha was behind the times and they have been trailing the competition since but I have stuck with them with very little complaining because it is my choice. If you don't like the direction Yamaha is headed you need to move on to a different brand and then you might realize the grass is not always greener on the other side.

I keep seeing the single cylinder tossed around across the interwebs, mostly 300cc though. It would end up with less than half of the Twin version since the twin gains efficiency over a single. I'd say 50hp from a 300 or 70hp from a 400 is possible. Say that ends up being a shared chassis, why couldn't Yamaha toss the 686 Grizz in it? I know, more weight, but the Ultramatic CVT would be great in a Entry sled. 48hp is right were all the old 440 fans were that most of us got our start on.

It would depend on the target market for this sled. Many have said the Phazer engine should be put into a more traditional chassis. I think when we start looking at engines available for this sort of application, a person starts to show a new appreciation for the 85hp that came out of that 500cc twin.
That's more hp than what a tweener sled should probably have. But then again, a whole new sled with that hp may be the next tweener sled with a lifespan expected from the Enticer name plate.
