I hope it’s something like the phazer and sno pro 500. I love that class for all sorts of riders. Light and nimble. Quick just not crazy fast but it would sure get the job done. Plus it would probably come in much more affordable. I think most current sleds have Caused some people to get out of the sport.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Yamaha had a hand in it...

Cat released another teaser yesterday. The caption from cat says, "it backs down from nothing." Looks identical to the models they have out right now so possibly a new or larger engine. What else could it be from this picture.

All the teaser stuff appears to have the alpha skid. I sure hope there is something in the works for the trail segment. Had a long conversation yesterday with a customer who has been riding for 40 years. He has a winder for trail and an alpha for his trips out west. He said you can ride the alpha on trail, but not aggressive. His best analogy was it's like riding a motorcycle with a flat rear tire.

One of the biggest gripes I have for these new cats and Yamahas is the running boards. This isn't a big deal for the trail guys but how about we get with the times and put running boards on that don't hold snow? Poo and Doo have it figured. This is something that could easily be updated. I don't have a problem with the rest of the sled but that's one thing I would really like to see changed.
Wonder how it would be with 1.25 or 1.5 track? I was pretty impressed with trail manners with big lugAll the teaser stuff appears to have the alpha skid. I know that there is another chain about it, but have you seen the postings on Yamaha's Facebook page by Jarret Smith? He made some comments about Yamaha having some exciting things coming in 2021, and that they were already in the planning stages for 2022. Sounds like Yamaha will be around for a while longer!

They have been saying that for awhile now. I want to here words like "new models" or better yet tell us about this "agreement" and what is happening there. That's whats going to tell us if they are going to be around for awhile.

It's obvious that there are at least three new models coming. And entry mountain is one they cannot ignore.
Anyone who follows Chris Burandt on Insta or YouTube, knows he has been tricking out an Evo in a mountain configuration for his kids. With that sort of publicity and kids soon to follow in the baby Burandt footsteps, all MFG's should be able to make bank on that!
It's a youth infusion that is needed in the sport. Trail, Track or mountain, we need more kids to get into the sport.

It at least inspired some hope to hear someone from Yamaha Snowmobile say that they are already planning for the 2022 model year! At the very least, the Yamaha Snowmobile division is telling us that they plan on being around for a while, and that they are designing for the future; that is good news to me. The future may be pure Yamacat, but as long as Yamaha is actively participating in the design and production of those future models, I am okay with that.

I believe if Yamaha was really in the sled biz then they should have been designing sleds with cat already. They have been in this "agreement" for 5 years already and have zero input on any of there sleds except for the engine. There are a lot of things that can get tweaked on these cat chassis to improve on but it seems Yamaha just turns their head the other way when it comes to quality which is not the norm for them. That leads me to believe they could care less about what sleds they are selling. I work for a commercial HAVC company. If we keep putting out products with the same little problems year after year then we wouldn't be on top and guess whos not on top in the sled biz? I like Yamaha products but when it comes to their sleds they have been bump down a notch in my books by not addressing some of the problems a lot of people are having. I have said this multiple times. This so called agreement is nothing but a vendor selling to a vendor. Cat sells Yamaha the chassis and Yamaha sells engines to cat that's it and that's all its ever been. Also not once have I heard any Yamaha rep say they have worked with cat on these sleds. I want to know if Yamaha will ever work with cat on the design and quality of a sled. Also we don't even know what the word "planning" means. For all we new know the only thing they could be planning is the new stickers since that's all they seem to do.It at least inspired some hope to hear someone from Yamaha Snowmobile say that they are already planning for the 2022 model year! There are issues with the original Pro Cross as produced by Cat, no question; the threads on this site discuss them ad nauseum, and we are all familiar with them. That having been said, there have been some improvements and changes to the chassis since the Yamaha/Cat partnership agreement. With the advent of the Sidewinder/Thundercat, the plastics got a much needed makeover that was not just cosmetic. Now you can take the hood off a Pro Cross without lying on your back in the snow. Changing a blown fuse on the trail used to be a nightmare. If I am not mistaken, the Sidewinder uses not only a Yamaha engine, but an ECU that Yamaha matched with it, not the dreaded Cat ECU. The terrible "Tri-hub" is gone! I know its subjective on my part, but I even think the fit and finish has even improved over my original 2014 Viper. My Sidewinder and my buddie's Sidewinder appear to be just as well put together (cosmetically) as our old Vectors. I am sure that there are some other changes that I have missed, but at least the Pro Cross has evolved somewhat since Yamaha became involved. Maybe Cat made all the changes by themselves, but I have to believe that Yamaha has had some input into the process, especially all the changes that came with the Sidewinder/Thundercat.
