I used most of the provided packet no where near enough in the packet to fill the entire cavity. So I guess the idea of filling it completely is not the intentWhat’s the verdict on grease? Half the package? Or all of it?

Pinnin' it!
I used half the package. I have videos of before and after but can’t seem to get them uploaded ! Noticeable difference though, will see how long it lasts. Not 100% gone, but improved

I would think the more you put in the longer it will last. I was going to use it all and then add to it honestly, but I'm still working on the rest of the machine to get it prepared and not real worried about the stub shaft yet.

I was wondering, what happens to that grease in the cavity?I used most of the provided packet no where near enough in the packet to fill the entire cavity. So I guess the idea of filling it completely is not the intent
Did you happen to take a peak at your coolant temperature b4 you shut the sled off?I used half the package. I have videos of before and after but can’t seem to get them uploaded ! Noticeable difference though, will see how long it lasts. Not 100% gone, but improved

Gradually, eventually it ends up mixed into engine oil. It can't escape - outer bearing is sealed.I was wondering, what happens to that grease in the cavity?

Overtime the grease will get beat up - oil will likely work its way in, diluting the grease over time.I was wondering, what happens to that grease in the cavity?
When i have serviced this bearing I would pack the splines with heavy grease before reinserting the assembly. It helped dampen the noise and keep the metallic sound down - for a bit. This kit with the O ring may hold the grease for quite awhile. But i bet after a season it would be pretty mutilated.
I am interested in posts after a few thousand km.

How did your phone call go?Nooo!!! Haha. I did the same. Let me give a call to Tapp on Monday and see why, the world's leading clutch company for the 998t would include a specified amount of Grease for the ability to grease it twice, and yet not include that in their very specific instructions. (Long sentence)
While I agree it was a lot. There is a void inside the hub where all the extra grease gets pushed, obviously opposite of the seal.
Either call them yourself or trust my words. I make a solid bet Tapp will thinks it's ok, either way. Meaning no damage will be done.
Same as mine i bet.

Tim, based on group recommendations I decided not to make that call. How did your phone call go?
Same as mine i bet.
Looking at the facts, even if it does get overfilled I don't see any harm coming from it.
What happened with you? Lol.

I am waiting this one out. The clutch rattle has never bothered me.
Why didn't yamaha just drill a hole in the crank to pump pressurized oil into the spline?

I'm like you, never even gave the noise a second thought. But now after installing the knockout kit, it's kinda like owning a new sled. I'm somewhat amazed.I am waiting this one out. The clutch rattle has never bothered me.

I just did this kit on my xtx and srx. I wasn’t amazed by any means. It helped stop some noise but seems to have made the clutch noise more pronounced for me. Probably just eliminated enough other mechanical noise to allow the clutch noise to come through more. That’s my experience anyways.I'm like you, never even gave the noise a second thought. I don't think you want to overfill with grease. You could be pushing on the crank some until it finds its way out? I have a kit and have not looked closely at this yet and could be wrong.Tim, based on group recommendations I decided not to make that call.
