Got this sidewinder all set up!! This guy has been blowing belts original offset 61mm
Removed primary and checked that stub shaft bearing was properly seated . Bearing needed to be reseated and new offset measurement came in at 60mm. Had 2.3mm machined and now he is what I feel is "on the $$"
Offset is now 57.7mm!!
New thunder products 14.8 rollers should be here tomorrow and sled will go back to customer to ride the weekend!!
I will update on Monday if he blows belts or not...
I am pretty confident he will have no issues since I been pretty successful on helping guys with belt issues in the last 2 seasons following these steps!
1- remove both primary and secondary to disassemble, clean and inspect.
2- check stub staft and reaseat if needed
3- replace any worn or questionable parts in clutches
4- install both clutches and take a offset measurement (front outer machined edge of secondary to back outer machined edge of primary )
5 - have secondary hub machined to spec (57.5 to 59)
Remove spring and reassemble secondary and make sure the amount you machine does not affect full shift out (around 3 mm max)
6- install clutches and double check offset
How many scotch brite pads on this clean up?!!!

Marc are you able to confirm if stub shaft has moved and needs re - seated without removing it ? or is only way to take it out and check it ?

Many times if the bearing was pushed in you will have rub marks on the back of the primary from the stub shaft housing bolts.Marc are you able to confirm if stub shaft has moved and needs re - seated without removing it ? or is only way to take it out and check it ?
I just use feeler gauge and feel for a gap between the housing an bearing
Rub marks from stubs shaft housing bolts.
Check with feeler gauges to confirm if there is a gap between bearing and housing right on machine (you do not need to remove the assembly from motor)
This pic is obvious it moved with the noticeable gap between bearing and housing

Good to know thanks Marc. I always go by the marks on the back of primary as well was just curious if there was any other methods. I should have taken measurement when i picked up my new sled this year to see what it should be to always have for reference
