My 270 hp Tcat got beat over and over at st germain by stock 850s.
I suppose I'm starting to understand you. Big horsepower gains didn't yield the results you seek on short distance runs. Very frustrating situation.
By design it's probably easier to get a 2s to deliver what you seek.
This has always kept me a little wary, as I like to leave hard & maximize top speed without tearing the whole sled apart.
I wondered if there was a way to take power out of these boosted sleds, down low, to achieve traction, without going to chisels? Lower RPM engagement? IDK?!?!
Where there's a will, there's a way.

Boost by speed would be the answer. The sxsblog guys were doing that with their yxz when they kept breaking diffs at 400+ HP.

Polaris HP
Lol
Mine will have 263 hp
These will be more fun than playing with the mighty Mach!
So this is Bikeman on here bragging about 263 hp.
Bring it for a trail ride bet it doesn't make a full day of riding without blowing up.

they are all trailable sleds
Not slammed and we race in snow
Most sleds we ride are 1/2 inch or more of stud hanging past lug.
Run what you bring and that’s how it goes.
I am comparing apples to apples here when it come to 850 n/a against stock Tcat we own. You cannot make up the holeshot loss unless you tune. The Tcat has 1.63 triggers w angled backers in 1.325. Same as the poo 850.
The 850s we are running against side racing at st germain are a mix. All trail height but some may have chisels. It’s like any turbo you line up with there may be 200 - 700 hp. Hard to say.
I’m not arguing the 998 is fast but the fact that they are stock is not true. Tuned they are. The sled I got beat on wasn’t slow. Traction was the issue and that’s where you lose and I got beat. 660 ft isn’t a long ways.
Like I stated before if I had chisels it’s different but I don’t trail ride with them.
I don’t know why it’s a conspiracy theory to think even at 185 hp a sled that weighs 120 pounds less would be faster. Also one that will leave the gate harder on snow in most cases and especially on trail sleds. You are using the power you have and if there’s too much what happens?!?
I have rode with a group that has only ridden cats for years. Everyone of them that got on the poo commented on how it handled. It’s light and is set up so it doesn’t do all that gay wheelie and ski lift crap. 6 998 owners bought boosts in our group. Why?
When you see how the 850n/a performs and then think about throwing a turbo on it it may quite possibly be the most well rounded sled out there. Plus it’s worth money to sell. They have retained value. I could make a 998 go faster no doubt. Put a bigger turbo on it and do some engine work. Big deal. I don’t think the boost is on that level ever. I think 300 or so hp may be achieved though and no not pump gas on the trail.
My opinion and we all differ there which is good.
Do I think a boost is the fastest sled thats been built to date out of the box? Absolutely
Is that a knock on a 998. Nope.
I wouldn’t ride either sled stock.
Quite honestly I’m sick of waiting for cat.
I think most are. New chassis and some new tech would be nice.
Other people like doos. That’s fine. This is to prime what may actually be a competitive machine for the winder. All in fun and I don’t care win lose or draw I’ll still have fun with it.
Get the cameras rolling next season
The tunes are easy to switch btw like that bikeman sled above. Sounds like may all be in dash next winter like winder.
Add race fuel and some weight just like a winder you can bump hp and then lower it and trail ride. Not hard

How many tenths faster do you think a STOCK boost will be in the 1/4 mile compared to the NA stock version?they are all trailable sleds

We don’t run that far so I don’t know?
Let’s say 850 runs 9.1in 1000 ft
Boost runs 8.8 ish
Speculation purely
But if you know two strokes, 10 percent more hp is a lot

I raced 2 different 850's when my TCAT was stock with 144, 1.50" studs in a 1" track, which is 1/2-3/4" passed the lug. Raced an Assault 850 with 1.75" track and a backcountry with 2.25" track. On hardpacked snow on an open field (part of groomed trail), I beat them by 3-4 lengths and leave right from the dig. Conditions always play a roll. Chisels wont do much unless its very hard. Raced my buddy in late march after a foot of snow with his assault 850. From the dig, he beat me by 30 feet as I was just spinning, then I went by like a rocket (on 270). I really don't believe much of what you say. You may want to brag this up on the Hardcoresledder.they are all trailable sleds

Polaris hype! Prediction, the 998 will still be the fastest stock sled next year and with as many 850's that have gone down these last few years, Polaris should have a banner year distributing boost crate engines! Also, a turbo 4 stroke in the not so distant future to replace the kaboost.

That’s fine and you have a right to your own opinion. We race on hard pack and if you think chisels don’t matter I guess your opinion is great also!
