OK here are my results this past week. I removed my stm 60y ramps and ulmer red primary spring, installed my Dalton dtya-1 ramps empty,w/Dalton blk/blu primary and secondary stm 38 w/Dalton cat white at 9-1 would not rpm, removed 1.6 grms from these ramps, same primary spring, still would not rpm more than 8400,went back to stm ramps and cat red primary w/same secondary set up,now runs 8900 and clutches are cool, not sure what is going on with my Dalton dtya-1 ramps and the blk/blu spring.X3...I concur. Testing on the lake last spring, less tension in secondary and light weights in primary netted highest mph.
I'm always willing to try new things, hence I started a Knapattak account and the funds in it will go to testing new ideas. Lol. I just purchased the EPI purple per his post and hope to test soon. I hope this purple spring doesnt end up hanging on the wall with the other 25 springs that didn't work over the years.
By reading this post it almost appears the guys running Dalton weights like soft secondary while guys running STM weights like lots of tension. Am I wrong here??
Beast,
How did you remove 1.6 gram from DTAY-1 if you were running them empty?
What tune and muffler?

Your DTAY-1 are too heavy for your Max Spool 16 tune.
I have same tune as you and use the lighter QA70 with an added 1.9 gram, so about 71.9 ish total. With all else stock except my 35/39 helix. Have changed my primary spring from stock to a Yamaha Blue Brown Blue but weight stayed the same and gave me an extra 100 rpm on top but lower cruising rpms. 8950 is highest I see now.
Stock clutch ramps with added weights work really nice but do take some time to tune. Add weights and then grind to fine tune rpms.
Cheap and effective if you need to move away from your too heavy Dalton’s and do not have extra cash to spend on your money pit. Woody had all needed last week, my buddy bought the weights and 2 size washers there.
Good luck Pete!

Can't you just run tungsten in the qay's for weight? Or?

Yeah, that is what I am doing. I am maxed at 82g now so if someone ran lower HP tunes and wanted the QAY-70's, I'd like the DTAY-1's to give me more room for the future. Can't you just run tungsten in the qay's for weight? Or?

Snowdust,
At 82g you need a set of DTAY-2s, which start at 79g empty. I've got a set I dont use. Send me PM if interested.

Wrap that white spring at 0-1 and retry. I run those DTYA's at 80 grams and see @9000 rpmOK here are my results this past week. Run your weights empty tho it’s a 16 psi tune with a 38 helix. Might still be low. Stock muffler?Wrap that white spring at 0-1 and retry. I run those DTYA's at 80 grams and see @9000 rpm

what tune do you have,is it a TD? Mine is TD max 16 makes 17.4 boost at full throttle. And most of the time with my CAI it has had good temps, around 23-60 if hard on throttle, now that has been over the last weeks cold air,on warm days that goes up for sure. Once back up there I will try and wrap it tighter. Even the STM ramps I now have working at 8900 -9000 is because I removed another tip washer, now my weights only have two washers and rubber o ring on one side, and tungsten insert on the other side, middle empty, and one washer on each side at heel, clutches are both clean, and shifted out fully, and run warm to the touch, not smoking hot!Wrap that white spring at 0-1 and retry. I run those DTYA's at 80 grams and see @9000 rpm

Mine is Stock muffler, 270 flash, 17 psi of boost.
If he is at 16 psi that 35 may be a better option? Or take a gram or 2 out of the weight.
I really like my secondary wrapped at 0-1 with that Cat green spring at 270hp

No modified stock muffler,CAI and max 16 tune, makes 17 plus for boost,i tried those ramps empty first, and could not make anything past 8400 and once in a while I would see 8600 but just a spike,so I went home and relieved them by 1.6 grams, reinstalled them, with the blk/blu Dalton primary, and my stm straight 38 with cat white still at 9-1 wrap,it went better but still only around 8400 most of the time,so back to camp out they go,and in stm ramps and ulmer red spring, much lighter than the Dalton blk/blu secondary remained the same, now sled felt much snappier and responsive, and top rpms close to 9000,lake where I could run,was so snow drifted and just plain nasty,i was only able to see 93 gps,and had to back off,for fear of polking a hole in bulkhead, just not worth it. I am concerned when I can get on good clean hard snow and see top end,it will overrev at this set up. This was on the xs825,i may try my 8dn.Run your weights empty tho it’s a 16 psi tune with a 38 helix. Might still be low. Stock muffler?

I have run it with the stock 35 helix, but it always felt much better with the 38,it did rpm more with the 35 but also had more heat, dale did send me his new blk/orange spring,i could give the stock 35 a try with that spring wrapped to 9-1 or 01.Mine is Stock muffler, 270 flash, 17 psi of boost.
