OSP SR Viper belt adjuster with float

How many guys out there are using the osp adjuster with 8dn belt on stock clutches?? I installed mine with 8dn belt ( with the 3 adjustment bolts taken out) on the secondary and could not get it adjusted correctly. Belt was riding low in the secondary and the secondary was closed all the way . Also the deflection seemed very loose. So I put the 8jp belt back on and it adjusted up very nicely. I believe I could get away with using the 8dn as a spare in a pinch until I get my clutches machined for the 8dn by ulmer.

I have 8DN belt and the OSP adjuster on stock clutch. I was like you and could not get it adjusted and thought the secondary was closed all the way.
I thought for sure there was something wrong with adjuster or belt. I when out and tried it for the 3 time and I got it working. As it stand my secondary was not closed all the way. I think my belt was not at the top and stopping the secondary from closing. Try this bring your adjuster out tell it is flush and run the sled on stand I think you well be surprised. Then make small adjustment from there.

thanks for the help but have any of u ran out of adjustment by backing off the nut? i got a newer belt. with new spring n helix set up for turbo. just adjusted this tool. and the nut is 1 or 2 threads missing on the nut. so if my belt wears ill have no room for adjustment like i basically already ran out now. so i got little over half a nut holding on... they should make these tools with way longer threads....

Are you just going by what it is from install on a stand? Cannondale is giving very good advice here. It changes a lot when you actually ride it a short distance.

X2, I have always found that it's much easier to give the sled a short ride to warm up the belt, makes it soft and easy to work with then work the belt up to the top of the secondary by hand to set the deflection. Last step would be to get the track off the ground to see if the track is creeping.

I had my belt adjusted to what i thought was pretty good.
So today we had a few cm of snow, I warmed up sled belt in yard as ran it around.
Then with the sled and belt warm put sled on a stand and it would creep track so very lightly the after I ran it a backed off on gas easy.
So I did a 1/4 turn on adjusted and the creeping stopped.
So would you say this good belt deflection?

That sounds fine, I personally like the track to creep. FYI, If the deflection is set too tight the belt will squeal at idle and that's not good.

I was of the impression that u would set it so the creeping would just stop?

I had a Polaris 800 rush a couple of years ago. I stopped on the flowage in the UP in a blizzard cause a buddy fell off his sled (little too much NOG) I left mine running. somewhere that night the primary spring broke. I got him going turned around and my sled was gone. rolling in knee deep snow about 5 mph must have been the funniest thing me chasing it - whish I had that one on video - creep bad it only takes a bit for the belt to catch and away she goes.#$%&*

I have both primary and secondary adjustment for belt width. I back primary off. Adjust secondary so it just creeps then back off 1/4 turn. Then adjust primary in until it just creeps. Good to go instant throttle response with no slamming on belt. Very smooth engagement.
