Its not designed for belt removal. At point it stops it hits the clutch shaft. A 8dn will come off at that point.
If that is the case then the tool isn't what they said it was designed to do, as they said you can adjust deflection AND use it to remove the belt. This also explains why the tool binds up after turning in only 1/4" so I will need to remove the tool and go with the other suppliers tool that opens the clutch fully and then put the bolts back in the backside with washers so I can run the 8DN belt.

These belt removal tools are just for convenience, not needed to change your belt at all. If you choose to run the 8DN belt it shouldn't be hard to change due to the added length over the standard length 8JP belt. I'd rather have infinite adjustment of my belt deflection, very important for best performance.

If you got in on the $55 deal I will gladly buy it from you at that price instead of you having to return it if unhappy and etc. Let me know!If that is the case then the tool isn't what they said it was designed to do, as they said you can adjust deflection AND use it to remove the belt. Well here is the description of the tool on their website. I haven't installed but I hope it does what they say.
YAMAHA VIPER billet belt adjuster with floatBillet Aluminum BELT ADJUSTER, WITH FLOAT, you can float your secondary, (converter) to help impove belt life.
you will be able to adjust your belt with the tool WE GIVE YOU and NOT have to use shims, just turn the dial to adjust belt OR DIAL THE ADJUSTER TO REMOVE YOUR BELT.

I feel like there's interpretation of the statement.. it's definitely easier to remove the belt with the tool, but you do need to work it out a little (still worth it to me). It's not like it drives the helix in all the way and the belt "falls off" into your hands.

Right. Or just switch to 8dn and it almost falls off. Like said it does help but you still have to push helix in. It could be done if a guy made a cupped spacer to replace plastic one.

Never noticed that. I bought it for adjustment. I am sure he will chime n here soon. Maybe a worn 8jp comes off? Have you guys tried?

Just looked. It is cupped. Needs to be a deeper cup to remove 8jp.

Okay working with used 8dn deflection setting is easy but with brand new belt start with belt tight and adjust in half turn at time till sled doesn't creep and squeal dialing it in with 1/4 turns. I am trying Gates 8jp replacement. Here is where I ended up after running belt for awhile.
I got the same belt height riding on the secondary clutch on my 8JP

I was having the same issue with mine when i installed it.
Try warming up the belt by running it for a bit. It the belt is new, cold or stiff it is a lot harder to get the height set.
Once it is warmed up run the track slow, dont gun it, and see where the belt rides.
This Worked better for me

The gates is really grabby. Do it by feel or you will just be banging your head. Maybe once it gets broke in will change but no need to put up with creeping and squealing till that happens. Is whole point of this adjuster. Easy adjustment.

Looks like a great product but I was confused by your statement in the video where you said if your sled is creeping or the belt is squealing that you "loosen it". That seems backwards to me. If you loosen the collar you will be moving the clutch sheaves closer together which will increase the belt tension and make the creeping and squealing worse.

Yes I thought that may confuse some LOOSEN belt by tightening nut, and TIGHTEN belt by Loosen up the adjuster nut...
we have 2 sleds in the shop and we can use tool to remove belt its a bit tight but can be done.. I will make the cup deeper in the next batch to make it easier to remove belt..
