Yup I like aggressive weight also especially since gearing higher. Will try this but I am thinking will be needing to go more aggressive on Primary spring. How much you want to bet the stock primary spring is going to be what I want! LOL! Glad those weights are so easy to adjust.
Granted I have the flat heavy osp weights but that's the only downfall I've ran into personally, needed to go to aftermarket springs to get engagement up, Yamaha springs couldn't do it. For 90% of the people tho they would've absolutely loved it how it was engaging so low.

Man I hope river is good this year. Need to clutch the cat too. Over revving a bit and way too high engagement with Bikeman kit I put on that. Never really got a good run on Viper after driver change either. Looks like two clutch setups and adding Stingray airbox mod to my Excell box. Fixing tune after 17 flash and then a little more tweaking of the hot ignition map. Last year of warranty got to make it count!Granted I have the flat heavy osp weights but that's the only downfall I've ran into personally, needed to go to aftermarket springs to get engagement up, Yamaha springs couldn't do it. Then what's next? Turbo on the viper? Sidewinder? Maybe hop up the cat and make some of the turbo guys mad?

Nope. Maybe a Apex! No Turbo for me until kids are done with Phazer. Then what's next? Turbo on the viper? Sidewinder? Maybe hop up the cat and make some of the turbo guys mad?![]()

Oh and still have 3mph to go. Based on last few years it wont be easy. Still hate this motor.

None of the clutching stuff yet has been "cheap" if u ask me..even the cotc setups were still right there at that $300 mark if you had to go buy new parts and that's really the only way to base thing off of since there is a very limited supply of used parts. Cannondale u know I was always fond of those aggressive style weights..still am, stock weights in the viper are almost identical in profile to the d&d weights so honestly I wouldn't be surprised if doing smaller rollers with stock weights is as much or better of a gain as it would be to run aftermarket weights with the stock rollers..u can adjust the aftermarket weight to get your rpm right but you still aren't going to achieve that same initial belt force compared to smaller rollers. Can't imagine there's any difference to be had in top speed between the 2 but could be some improvements in the first few hundred feet.
When it comes to clutches I'd say you're spot on with the factory quality stuff, and if it works and works well then there's no such thing as being cheap!
I have the d&d weights? Something wrong with them vs something else?? Is there a better weight?
LAST question, why is 100 mph soooo important to you guys? Sleds has 130 HP... If it had 800 cc class hp, I'd be a little upset. But as long as I can feel the torque and hit 90.. I guess I just don't care.

you used to hit 100 mph easy with a 125 hp sled back in the day, nobody wants to lose that.but those sleds didnt have any suspension

And my Phazer which has every bit of suspension viper has in rear gets 80-85 mph gps in 6in if snow easy every time. With 50hp less stock!you used to hit 100 mph easy with a 125 hp sled back in the day, nobody wants to lose that.but those sleds didnt have any suspension

I love mine.

Mostly due to the track lug size being larger IMO. I put an M10 under my 2002 SRX piped viper, same track, everybody said I would loose 5~7 mph but I actually lost nothing. When I changed to a 1.375 track I lost 7~8 mph.
Smaller rollers make more difference down low, not so much up top. So if your hitting the limiter off the line give the smaller rollers a try. Changing rollers for a full shift out issue is a waste of time.
If you want more top speed out of your clutch setup and are horsepower limited, going to a lower finish angle on the helix will almost always net better results. Most guys go higher in finish angle thinking that the clutches stop shifting out. It's a proven fact and I'm not going to debate it, just thought it might help someone who's having problems with top speed.

Every time I read a thread that complains about top speed it just reminds me of my rocket buddies talking when I'm over cruising on my Harley. My Harley will do 120 plus..... 120 is maxed on speedo. Makes 100 HP and 115 tq on dyno. Rocket buddies are bragging about hitting 150 plus and they can smoke me blah blah blah. But yet my bike holds value and turns heads, their bikes attracts cops and are annoying.
Let's get back to reality and remember why you bought the viper, 130 HP, rider forward chassis, something new, better option then the phazer, better riding then the apex.
Have any of you seen these things on Craig's? There hold value... But why, with all the problems I just don't understand why. Hard starting, no top end, belt slip, harsh engagement.
My buddy just bought a 2015 skidoo 800 etec xrs for 6000 dollars with 4000 miles on it lol... Cream of the crop sled 2 years ago is worth less then half of what it was purchased for!
I say kissing 100 mph is perfect for what we got!

That's exact opposite of what I see here. Skidoos outsell the other 3 manufacturers combined in our area and all the dealers give top dollar for trade in and have been forever, people buy them. In our area a 2015 xrs would still list for $10k+and if it didn't sell they get $9k trade in on it...guys with vipers are pleased to sell them for $6k, turbo vipers can't even get $7k.

Not that I am going to argue over what products are selling for but. I was in the market for a viper, looked all summer. The cheapest one I have found in new York was 6900 and it sold with in the two days it was listed for and he got asking price. . I've called on numerous vipers trying to get them around the mid 6000 range! I'd be more then happy to purchase these sleds all day long for 6k. Big moose Yamaha, cheapest viper they have is 8295 2014 with 300 miles on it, Mike's sport shop has a 14 trade in he's asking 6999 for a 14 ltx se with 4500 miles. If there is one thing I'm certain about it's the market, lol because I been watching.
No doubt in my mind skidoos sell 3 times more, lots of people want the latest greatest units, the lightest and the most fun. They buy skidoos knowing the cast aluminium bulk head will crack by hitting a few blades of grass

I think it has something to do with the water in your area.
I was offered $12k last year for my turbo viper.
