SRX vs 2022 Mach Z

If a winder guy went on 850 skidoo forum and said they are okay except for the brutal oil mileage that requires many sidetrips on a saddlebag tour, more than half of the engines explode before warranty is up (they definitely do in my part of Ontario anyways), the intake roar above 50 or 60 mph is irritating, they are quite smelly to ride behind and they feel like stinky mini bikes compared to a setup Winder but I do like them quite a lot anyways how do you guys think that would be received by the Doo faithful? I think you guys are forgetting this is the Yamaha forum. We have done the three classic fixes to our winders and RR crosshaft upgrades. I watched my son put 8,000 kms on this winter on his nearly 300 hp Winder with a paddle track with one blown belt and a used 400$ apex clutch that fixed the roller problem. He rides it balls out no matter the conditions so I dont think blowing two shocks apart needs to be included. He found one minor irritant this winter with it though. If he catwalks it on the rear idlers for half a km in 4 feet of snow on a pipeline the knock light will flash on premium and he has to drop the front end, no biggie though. 70 mph catwalks arent safe anyways lol. If a doo of any stripe can take what he has done to my old winder for 24,000 kms and still work perfectly I will be truly inpressed. I am looking forward to next winter when my buds Machs hit the snow. One of their favourite sayings a few years ago was how much does it cost to lose when a couple of us had stock vipers with their lacklustre performance. I bought my 50th LE under warranty for 13 cdn with 1,800 kms so Im in about 15 the way its set up now. I dont think their 26,000$ Machs are going to gps close to 130 mph like my Winder will day in day out lol. Pretty sure I will get to ask how much it costs to lose. And just like AJ Lester said its the chest beating gotta have the fastest guys that are buying them. Last point the media never mention that our yamacats flat out have the least bump steer feedback in the industry still, everytime I ride a doo through a bumpy crnr with my 50 yr old contractor elbows I remember though.
 

Thanks Cannondale. I always liked it here. Never had an issue in 4 years. And I’m certainly not here to tout another brand that I currently own. Just thought I’d check in cuz I saw the Mach Z thread. Certainly wasn’t meaning anything like what one poster is implying. I’m not one of those guys at all.
I don't mean any disrespect but honestly what kind of attention did you think your post was going to get when you say my 850 hauls a$$. The title of this post is SRX vs MACH Z nothing about an 850 I guess it's ok to post how much you like your Ski Doo but as soon as someone comes back with a comment it's a personal attack. Well here is the deal I will stand my ground and argue every Ski Doo post until I get the boot remember this is a Yamaha site.

I know exactly what type of site it is. And You busted Rockerdan’s chops too. But No worries. I have no issues with Yamaha or any brand. We’ll leave you to your business.

No the problem is you take it personally and then make it personal. You belong on Facebook if that’s how you want to be. Drama. We all know this will all get settled real quick next winter. Till then it’s all make believe drama. Relax.
 
Well boys, after reading the last 13 pages of this post, I feel compelled to throw in my 5 cents.

I am a die hard Ski Doo guy.... I absolutely love them, and I admit that freely whenever out and about.

Over the years, many have asked, "Fleece, if you love Ski Doo so much, then why do you ride Yamaha?" My answer is always the same, "Although I love Ski Doo, I have not owned one in decades, nor will I ever, and here's why........Because I absolutely, unequivocally, without a doubt, hate losing!!" Lol

Ski Doo advertises the Mach Z as being built for guys that "WANT" to be first across the lake. Well....one might ask, "What about the alpha beta male that absolutely "NEEDS" to be first across the lake??? Rest easy my fine friends.......that's why Yamaha will continue to build the mighty SRX!!

Also of note, if you pay attention to the advertising, you'll notice Ski Doo is adamant that the Mach Z will be a limited build, and only available for one year. Be advised, Ski Doo isn't stupid, as this is a calculated move. They know full well, the poor sap that put down $20k, only to look at tail lights all winter, will never buy another. Adding insult to injury, Ski Doo purposely did not leave much room for the aftermarket to improve the Mach Z. It comes with a single throttle body, and a turbo already blowing 17lbs of boost. What can one do....add another 10lbs of boost??? At 27lbs, that little turbo will be spewing the same hot air as the poor sap that's driving it!
 
Lots of high mileage 850’s out there for sure. Mine was new this season, so I only have a 1000 miles. But my buddy has an 18 with 6000 miles and hasn’t touched anything...he may change the plugs for next season. Another friend has a ‘17 with over 15,000 miles and no issues.

Ive owned two Yammy’s.....an 07 Apex and my ‘18 Winder, and liked them both very much. My Apex was super rock solid. This is my second Doo, and so far it’s been Great! Can’t say a bad thing about it.

And contrary to what TPAY says, certainly not talking up my Doo at all. Just stating a fact...it’s been a great sled this first year.

I like both Yamaha and Doo...have had good fortune with both. My Winder had a few reliability issues, but it didn’t stop me from liking the good points(power and motor) of the sled at all. And I know there are some with no issues at all...I wish I had been one of them.

I don’t get the hostility or attitude by some toward somebody who had YAMAHA’s, and now has another brand? I would never bad mouth my Yamahas ...or anybody who had one, cuz I enjoyed both of mine.
They blow up... My dealer has a couple a season. Also My buddy has an 850 XRS, with about 500km on it, had to replace the oil tank and oil pump so far.. Then he bought a used 2020 Polaris 850 to add to his collection and it had 4000 miles on it, and it blew up. Took out the crank seal up in cochrane, ontario. However, it has a 4 year warranty and was fixed and he bought it with a rebuilt motor. If you want to see reliability, then the 600's are reliable, but once you get into the big displacement, its alway been trying to contain the heat that they produce. But a 2 stroke is a 2 stroke... Not very reliable regardless of how the OEM markets it.

I have been saying this for years.. The 600's from pretty much all three are solid.. Ill take the Cat 6000 over them all.. Even the 800 or 850 whatever.. I bought a 8000 this past year and to be honest I wish I would have got the 6000.. I feel its a better running motor.. Hearing of some 8000 21 Cat burning down.
 
I am really looking forward to next riding season. For the last few years I have had the only SW in our regular riding group but this spring one rider ordered a 900R XRS Renegade and two others have ordered X-TX Winders all three will be stock for at least next season.
Since I picked up my SW a few seasons back the Doo riders have been hanging their heads and avoiding any eye contact once we get to open areas so there has been very little head to head competition on the lakes and I am hoping that will change this season even though they still will probably stay away from SW.
The last few rides of this past season I was riding my Attak and it was a lot of fun because all the 850 guys suddenly came out of their shells and wanted to race...LOL..they still lost.
