It's interesting because that is very close to the setup @ROCKERDAN ran with success. I ran the same setup this last weekend and was very low on RPM. It makes sense that Knapp and Clutchmaster are saying to run significantly less weight as I found the same, but wondering why Dan ran good RPM with pretty much the same setup. He was 1g less and 10 degree less on the wrap running 9k on 270 tune.
That said.. This should probably be in its own thread. We are off topic.
Probably because his sled was a 129.

Just getting home from a 600 mile weekend in the UP. 3000 miles on my XS belt. Have not checked it yet after this trip but it’s time for a new one. Just based on miles. We ran mostly looser unpacked trails all weekend. Some packed on a morning where it was -20 at night. A lot of white stuff falling from the sky’s. I Run heavy on the secondary spring orange TP @6/3. This with a straight 38 helix. Getting a real nice backshift.

Holy #*$&@ 6/3 on that spring? I run it at 3/1 and still get good backshift. You must have super human strength to wrap it that high.Just getting home from a 600 mile weekend in the UP. 3000 miles on my XS belt. I tried running the TP orange secondary spring wrapped at 6-3 with a 35 helix and was too much for that helix. It took two knees on the floor to wrap it.

Wow now that is a wrap....ha ha.same helix and spring I may give a try at this week,but I may give 3+3 and see what it does on my straight 38,i now have my 38 set at 9+1 on a Dalton white/cat green,so before I change things around again,i may just leave the secondary right where it is,and the primary has dtya-1,s set empty,plus lightened to 73.3 and new tp primary rollers,and tp orange primary spring to start,so I have no idea how all this will work out,but belt is well broke in from last year,with 1000 miles on it xs825.Just getting home from a 600 mile weekend in the UP. 3000 miles on my XS belt. Originally TP recommended 60 but they changed it to 50 due to heat buildup. I run it at 40 with a 35/39. 90 is crazy stiff. You sure you guys aren’t talking about the dalton orange spring?

I am speaking of the TP orange,short in height,wire is thick in diameter,not sure just where it is,when I get up to camp I will once more measure it up,now that spring I have run only once,and I did not give it a chance,if and when I do twist it,i plan on only 60 degrees at first,but may back it down to 40 or 50 and give that a go.Originally TP recommended 60 but they changed it to 50 due to heat buildup. For someone who just followed the original instructions from the Black/Orange secondary spring is it easy to figure out putting it at 50 or 40 I stead of the 60?Originally TP recommended 60 but they changed it to 50 due to heat buildup. It’s not to bad! Lol. I tried 3/3 and just kept going up until it stopped slipping. At 6/1 it was good. 6/2 better and settled at 6/3. It shifts. I may back it down some and see but it hits hard and sits at 8850.Holy #*$&@ 6/3 on that spring? I run it at 3/1 and still get good backshift. You must have super human strength to wrap it that high.

I may be mistaking but the first time production was off ever so slightly as to what they wanted in a secondary spring. Hence the different wrap then when it first came out so to speak.So the original TP orange that first came out might be SLIGHTLY different then the one they offer now. Secondary tp orange.

6/3 is crazy pressure. And it might not work for many. I Get that. I just pulled my belt and it looks crazy good for 3k. I’m a little dirty/belt dust in secondary. IMO ITS FROM the heavy backshift not from slipping on the punch. I may back it down to 6/1 again. I ran it all over but mostly found 6/1 was the lowest. Got to give the whole set up and realize that it may not work with a different helix and or springs.
I have a YAMAHA YLW/GRN/YLW primary spring with glide washers. The secondary is a TP Orange spring that we are speaking of. I’m at 6/3 with it.
The weights are heavy hitters 58.3 gram base.
The heels have 4.2 grams
The middle has .9 grams
The tip has 4.6 grams. Gives you 68 grams total.
This is with TD powertrail and turbo force can. So the 270 hp range.
Awesome gas mileage with this set up. I’m within .2 gallons of bone stock viper. We ride a lot together and put a lot of miles on. 8300 miles on a 17 LTX se 137. Just over 200 studs 1.425.
It’s a weird set up I’m sure most think but it hits really hard all the way up into the 50-60 mph range.
22 top gear also. Stocker is 21
