    GoPro video of Viper ride

You want to have a sled that handles and goes like stink, try an XF800. Not #*$&@ stirring here, I also own an Apex. My Apex has it on the big end, but the XF is nutzo on the trails and off trail. A LOT lighter than the Viper.

Taking the SR Viper for a spin!

I've got the same chassis and track length in a 800 2 smoke. I trail ride every day with it. Like any other sled, the suspension does need to be dialed in and factory carbides suck. As do the ski's. I have no problem hauling #*$&@ on the trails, but have plenty of off trail capability. This...

A little closer to pulling the trigger but?

I have the uncoupled skid in my XF800. For trail duty you want tthe 129/137 coupled skid. Far better in the bumps. Mine rides like a haywagon when the going gets rough. It does real well in powder though.

2014 Arctic Cat Verse SR Viper

X2. The Cat website indicates as such. Secondary being a roller vs. Yamaha's button clutch.

    YAMAHA SELLS OUT NYTRO MOTOR

Yamaha got a 2 model year matured platform that us Cat owners got to R&D for them. I'd say it was a win/win for both companies. It costs tons of money for any kind of R&D for a new platform. The sled handles really nice. 1049 will be a nice powerplant for the chassis. I don't see where Yamaha...

I don't understand...... OPEN YOUR EYES!!!!

I have had zero issues with my Procross. I own the 800 2 stroke in which I really love what it is meant to do, being light and quick. I would'nt mnd getting back to Yamaha "trail smooth" with a nice handling chassis. This one might be it. I wouldn't sweat it boys. You only hear a small very...

Who Has Rode Cats New Chasis and Fx Nytro?

Dan nailed it for the most part. I have a '12 XF800 and have been one of the lucky ones that have had minimal issues. It seems it's been a consistency/quality issue probably due to some design problems and also due to losing a lot of experience on the assembly line to the oil fields. My procross...

Rides like today is why i bought my apex

The 07 F1000 was a pooch out of the crate for what it was supposed to be. The later ones are a bit better. They do shake a lot. It is a big twin. I've driven them and I would take my F7 over one any day. I own an Apex, a Venture, and an F7. They are all very different. The Apex has its strong...

    Chaincase cover gasket

I cut a slit in the dipstick years ago, but apparently it's not big enough. Everything appears to be fine in the case. I use Klotz Chaincase lube which I believe is a superior product, and it may have saved my bacon. I have no way in telling when on the final day she pooched her fluid. I'm more...

    Chaincase cover gasket

Thanks, this is along the lines of what I thought. Strangely, once I took the cover off, the gasket checks out fine. I cleaned things up, re-assembled and filled with lube. No leaks. It may have been a situation of too much pressure in the case on my last ride. The girl was given a hot supper.

    Chaincase cover gasket

Hello to all, Cold season is fast approaching. Well, as I was doing routine PM, I found the chaincase on my 06 GT has been leaking. Fortunately I caught it in time, no damage. I bought the sled new and never had a problem with the cover like many have, until now. My question is, did Yamaha ever...

    Drive shaft drivers

They do need to be pressed on. If the shaft is still in the sled, take measurements from the inside of the tunnel to each driver (all 4), measuring both sides of each driver. Take out the old shaft, then install the new on temporarily with no track, then project those measurement on to the new...

    06 apex vs 09 apex

These sleds stock for stock are sensitive to overall setup and little changes to suspension, belt deflection, track tension, etc. all add up. Total mileage makes a difference. Belt wear makes a difference on top. Weight of rider also.

    Which track to use?

I run a 1.5" x 136" Camo Intense. With 23/39 gears it will pull the fillings out of your head. Hyfax are fine. I opened up all my windows and fully clipped it with Doo drivers.

    hmm yamaha stole from bergstrom

Stolen Ideas Not throwing stones or anything, (I have owned more Yamaha motorcycles ans sleds than any other brand), but if they did "borrow" from Scott's design, it wouldn't be the first time. In 1993, Yamaha released the GTS1000 that had a "forkless" front end that was pioneered by a guy...

Should I move from a RX1 to an Apex for $1200

Handling, rider position, and ride are far superior on the Apex. Just make sure you have the rear shock re-valved with a big boy spring installed. At your size, you will be bottoming the skid. Once sorted out, you'll be fine.

    Bergstrom Carbides

I run 8's on my 1.5x136. No biggy. You might have to take up on the limiter strap to the loosest hole, and loosen the front shock pre-load a little to get a bit of weight of the spindles. Mine steered a little heavy at slow speeds last year. Rock solid at speed.
