2022 Sidewinder ltx eps - getting rid of push

For 2022 it was moved to the upper hole in the tech bulletin for the XTX SE as well. The XTX LE is still bottom hole.

On my ‘23 LTX LE, I didn’t take the time to set up my suspension as my previous Sidewinder as I just wanted to get out and ride. Well, I had tons of push and inside ski lift. I finally took the time last weekend to make the suspension adjustments like my other Sidewinder, and just like others have mentioned by loosing up spring in my Center Shock and also loosened my front ski shocks all the way loose and then 2 turns of preload. I am now running Slydog Command skis with 6” shaper bars and the sled is now on rails with zero inside ski lift.

I put on USI triple threat skis with Stud boy dually's and they work great on the 146 track, 1.25 lug, no studs...I mean they are awesome. if you have an unlimited budget you may want to try them. Joe

I am a trail/lake rider only...no off trail. The number of studs, the length and if they are placed on the outside of the track can make a huge difference on how well the sled will turn and handle on the trail. I run 1 1/2 inch studs on a inch track including the outside belt of the track. This will make the sled harder to turn and more push. I want all the traction I can get on ice with trail studs. The aggressive snow trackers are my carbide of choice and have used them since 2007 Apex days. For me I have found them to be far superior of what I have tried. Just my 2c.

I was able to get my 23 LTX-LE out for the first time yesterday and put 65 miles on it after returning from a family Florida vacation this last week. I set my suspension up just like I set my 17 up, which sounds about exactly the same as yours putz, front ski springs full loose, also set clickers all on #1 like my 17 has been, I can see I'll need to run this new sled on clicker #2 however as it rides like a dreamboat and wants to bottom to easy on Clicker #1 on the rear, the new 23 clicker #2 is equal to #1 on my 17 it seems, I had no push and no inside ski lift even using the stock Strike and stock runners, conditions were firm fast and hard. Its going to be even better once I get my Doo 5.7Race skis on with Aggressive Snowtrackers. It wants to dart around a bit with the stock carbides which I knew it would as the leading bar has no carbide on it to hold the snow and ice, I didn't want to take the Doo skis off my 17 yet however. I know installing this on the 23 will act the same as they have with ever machine I put them on. The seat is softer on the 23 vs the 17 I noticed for sure too.

Glad you were able to finally get out on your '23 LTX LE!!! How do you like the EPS.....nice isn't it? I pretty much keep the clickers on #2. Agree that #1 is a bit too soft. I may look to have them revalved to have 3 useable positions, as #3 seems way too stiff, with #1 a bit too soft.
Did you let your limiter strap out to the last hole or did you keep it stock, which I believe is pulled in one hole?

It's pulled in one hole at stock. Yes the EPS is great, which I knew from riding my buds 22 GT. clicker #2 is going to be perfect for me. #3 has always been unusable for me.

I know this goes against all logic but have any tried pulling the limiter straps tighter? I did it this year along with keeping the center shock spring loose. Front shock springs loose also. I'm also using a trac link adjustable limiter strap. Made minor adjustments each day with it, loosen it for morning firm trails then as the trail loosens in the afternoon tighten it a turn or two.

I tightened the limiter on my 17 to try and keep the skis down with 300HP, but felt it compromised the ride too much, so went back to stock setting of hole #2. I always ran my limiters tighter on the Doos to help with ski lift and because the Doos were wheelie and more ski lift happy anyway, you had no choice but to tighten the limiters on them. The Cat is a different story however, the ProCross works so well they way the come from the factory, just a little tweak here or there to get what you want, as long as you have good shocks, its going to ride and handle well on the newer models. I would have never said that about my old POS 2012 1100 turbo ProCross, that was a machine I absolutely did not like. It rode and handled poorly to put it nicely. I've also rode some of the late model SE's with cheap shocks that I can't say ride or handle well.

Another update:

I have got back on my on my 2019 with exact same skis I tried on my 2022 and exact same suspension settings. I literally swapped the shocks and skis, I had QS3Rs on my 2022. All settings the same, Front coils full loose #1clicker, center spring loose #2 clicker, rear #2 clicker etc
Night and day difference! The 2019 rails, doesn’t push, no ski lift (pilot 6.9s) and no darting.
This solidified my decision on getting rid of the 2022. I ride too fast for the power steering to be noticeable anyway , at least for the wide open trails we have in Quebec. I will miss the EPS on the occasional time I do the tight twisties which is rare. I’m happy other people can make an EPS/tall spindle sled work for them but it’s not for my style of riding.

Sounds like you have made up your mind on it then. If the 19 works better for you, then thats what you should do. It should be easy to sell the 22.

Yeah the 19' works better for me, although I'm sure the 22 will work better for others. The used sled market is crashing here in Canada, I'm asking $14k USD ($19k CAD) and have had zero interest in it! Might get traded in on some other toy at this rate.

Wait till the fall and you'll get far more money that that and people will be beating down your door to get it!
