so is the axle made wrong or is there that much variances between bearings?

Here is the bearing I used. I decided to use what I think is a better quality bearing since I had the thing apart. Not sure where the low quality bearings that Cat is using come from. Most of the grease was out of the stock bearing.

Post #73 shows the O ring idea. Simple and hopefully effective. I may pull this thing apart again mid-season and verify everything is working and go with the set screw idea if that proves to work better. This might be a dumb question but what does using the peen and O-ring method mean? And can this be done with the dry shaft in the Sled ?

My wife bought me a really nice Christmas present. Maybe she really loves me or just wants me to stay in the garage....
BD Xtreme shaft +superlight disc brake
The shaft is 1.17715 and the NACHI bearing i have on hand is 1.772. Seems to be a perfect fit

Hahaha, to be honest i was shocked when i opened itEither way she's a keeper!
The second pic is not a bearing cup it’s a second seal and that bend in it is for water to get out. It’s not damaged.Just checked mine today 2800 miles 2000 Was with 270 tune, Bearing has a small amount of play on shaft , Rotor is loose plus the bearing cup on the inside is stretched

youtube rockerdan video # 5,6,7 and the O ring is from Stain who posted just before you. This might be a dumb question but what does using the peen and O-ring method mean? And can this be done with the dry shaft in the Sled ?
Now on to a little more input about what to use to bond the race to the shaft. My uncle works on huge Caterpillar machinery for all his life over 40 years. Asked for his input while he was at my house for Christmas, He explained to me in detail that rocker dans way of pinning the shaft is the way to do it. (pinning is basically hitting the area of the driveshaft in the spot the race of bearing rides with a sharp hardened chisel that will raise the metal around it, making it larger and also providing a area for the bonding agent to lock into) with that being said and reviewing the videos of rocker dan on youtube, he suggested more chisel spots all the way around shaft using a air chisel. This will keep the bearing centered with a driveshaft that has more ware. He also stated that he/they use this method regularly on equipment do to dirt on shafts like bulldozers. YA YA SOOO.. Last thing is he suggest using Loc-tit 620 and pinning it as much as possible so the 620 bearing mount has something to bond to. - 2 smooth serfises are hard to bond. 620 will almost be like welding on the race.

My friend sled it’s nice and flat on the inside of the body ,mine only touches the body at the bolt holes the rest of the cup is swelled out from the body Hard to see in the picture but zoom inThe second pic is not a bearing cup it’s a second seal and that bend in it is for water to get out. Oh got ya. Flatten it out. Its just sheetmetal. That comes from someone not having it flat at assembly. It really just keeps ice chunks and junk from taking out the actual bearing seal.My friend sled it’s nice and flat on the inside of the body ,mine only touches the body at the bolt holes the rest of the cup is swelled out from the body Hard to see in the picture but zoom in

Right, mine was not flat from the factory either. My replacement is though as I assembled it perfectly and properly.
It's sheet aluminium and very soft and bendable too.

I think you would have to take it off in order to flatten it ,and I couldn’t without taking the axle out .so it’ll be fine at first I thought it was holding the Bearing like the old

Looking into this for the summer. Is there enough room to drill and tap a set screw with the drive shaft in the sled?

Not sure, maybe we had mine out,and it was still a bear to tap through, you need a very sharp and new tap.Looking into this for the summer. Is there enough room to drill and tap a set screw with the drive shaft in the sled?
