Okay guys I almost pulled the trigger today on the excell air box mod. Should I just get the k&n system. I know it's a little off topic just looking for your guys honest opinion. Thanks guys I'm afraid of spending money on a mod that will have to be thrown away in a year after use.
I'm becoming more conservative in my spending on the Viper, but the Excel intake is on my short list. I'm going to give it a while as I might end up with a different sled or even a turbo you never know...

I would do it again. It and exhaust really woke up my mid range. Not much if any on top but I can now break the track loose and slide it around corners whenever I want. That was not always possible before the Excell system. You will feel the difference.

My latest leaning is the Ulmer intake setup. Just FYI
I don't particularly care for the Excell elbow deal.

Below is a much easier, cleaner way to add air without damaging your airbox.

I'm leaning this way too TD. Just waiting for Allen to get back to me as to how to purchase.

If you drill or cut a hole it will damage your airbox... am I missing something?

Right. Excell Dyno tested there mod. It's specific to our Vipers. As is Ulmers setup. I would not go cutting holes anywhere in airbox without at least some documentation of results. Dyno or preferably flow bench. Is obvious some thought was put into its design even from factory. Hate going backwards. If you drill or cut a hole it will damage your airbox... am I missing something?

My testing showed that high air velocity gave better throttle response and power at higher rpm. Just adding air without looking at all aspects may actually run worse, some of the rx1 guys found that out by blasting holes and slowing air flow.

I think Lonn had a pic of your airbox, let me know how it turns out!

How about a friendly bet? 3 tpi valves in stock unaltered box does not produce more power than my mod, above 7k on a dyno or real world testing in a stock unaltered viper. $100.00 donated to the charity of the winners choice
Sounds like fun!

Let me know, he gave me 3 slide valves and 3 cone valves. Pretty tight fit.

I don't know anyone with a dyno at 7K that will fly me and my sled out for $100.
