question to mike...I like the idea and simplicity..and of course we all agree there's a benefit from keeping the oil mist our of the intake tract etc...
thinking out loud here....pressure at the end of the tube is always positive or is there ever vacuum? so as when running deep powder there is never a chance it could suck in or get plugged?
dan...like your version also....wondering why you decided not go 3/4" out also>?

Good question.....IMO I dont think it will ever suck inward. I feel the intake tube from Airbox or CAI is so much larger and free flowing, that it will always pull from there....Now if that CAI or airbox got closed off for some reason, then yeah I could see it sucking in from the tube. It should only suck air though, and not oil at least.question to mike...I like the idea and simplicity..and of course we all agree there's a benefit from keeping the oil mist our of the intake tract etc...

I just happened to have these items around SJ.....And It worked out good cause this 3/8" ID rubber fuel line can fit nicely down behind as I routed it and it should be ok with the heat where I have it, did not need the heat tape as its not vinyl hose, most the vinyl hoses will break down from oil/gas over time...so fuel line is better in this aspect.

I don' like the hose sticking through the running board, not sure if there is enough pressure to keep snow etc from going up that hose at 100 mph or if you get into deep snow driving it up there. Be nice if it had some sort of flap on it or something .

Nice job Dan I like what you did. Another thing I like is the valve and all other hoses are still in place. Looks very clean and even Yamaha factory finish looking.
Take the spring out of the rollover valve and that will give you an idea of how much pressure is there.I don' like the hose sticking through the running board, not sure if there is enough pressure to keep snow etc from going up that hose at 100 mph or if you get into deep snow driving it up there. I can tell you guys arent listening and most probably think they will never roll there sled. Ok. Move on. I have rolled my Viper 3 times. Twice was just on its side and once was on purpose and totally upside down(Stuck). Point is on its side is far more likely. Right side with bar end stuck in snow that hose bend wont do a thing. You will have alot of oil come out within 30 seconds. Both times it rolled on side it was the right side. Without valve I lost 1.5 qts almost instantly. Second time had valve and just lost prime. No oil loss at all. Third time I was stuck and could not get out so turned key on pulled tether to activate rollover valve filled hole rolled it back, started and drove away. Before advising this hose mod think about other people and how ticked they will be if something goes wrong. Because it will happen.

Can anyone confirm vacuum on the turbo side of the valve?

I hear what you are saying and appreciate the concerns...but the current RO valve system is not functioning when its cold causing a blown out tank gasket. This leads to lost precious riding time... or worse. Yes the tethered RO system will solve the issue. It costs a lot of money. It does not address the concern some of us have regarding the oil coating the intake. Yamaha engineers need to fix this...not us! I’m sure they will but in the meantime I will not risk downtime due to their failed engineering nor will I spend another 300ish dollars on a tethered valve. I trail ride and have not rolled a sled in 35 years. Other higher roll risk scenario riders might want to heed your warning.

I totally agree with you 100%.....And I understand if I roll mine, its very likely oil is coming out that tube.I can tell you guys arent listening and most probably think they will never roll there sled. For me it is mostly about riding tomorrow, which will have a high temp of minus 24. So much of the ride may be around minus 30. That is extreme, and I know my hose today had lots of ice in it. I know a few, even one with an 18 that has pushed oil out the seal due to this freezing, and so it has ruined his riding time, and maybe worse in these temps.
I just wanted to do this for now, and ride.
I will certainly be doing the yamaha official fix when it comes(IF) as you just never know with these guys, and I would hate to be waiting all season and end up with oil leak.
Im pretty sure anyone reading this knows the risks.

You said this far more eloquently than I. Kudo’s.I totally agree with you 100%.....And I understand if I roll mine, its very likely oil is coming out that tube.

Yes, what they said. we know you have our backs Cannondale. This simple loop design can be replaced with the original RO valve on the days with more normal temps. I would rather take my chances without the valve and keep my skis on the ground, than run the risk of a blown out seal on an extremely cold day.
