Do those belong to the popcorn eating guy
I had an 85 SRV also. Dang right they worked very well for a fan cooled machine.Pretty sure Yamaha was a legend in the snowmobile biz well before the Delta box. Probably as far back as the GP643 triple, if that sled didn’t do it the 1977 SRX 440 liquid did.
I owned a 1985 SRV 540 ....fastest sled of its time. Then there were the Vmax quad 750 & 800’s that ruled the wasteland. In 2000 the SRX 700 took sled of the year in several mags and even the 800’s were scared. Then the Viper with handling that rivals sleds to this day on smoother trails.
I miss those days when Yamaha had new offerings ever couple of years and a wide selection of models.
The agreement between Cat and Yamaha has been love/hate but it still has given me an awsome sled! If it was a perfect sled I would have nothing to do all summer and would have to move to the North Pole so I could ride 365 days a year. Might get eaten by polar bears, and my house would probably sink into the ocean due to global warming. So it ain’t all bad.

I had the SRV 540 Vmax liquid with twin pipes. Clutched it for 8800 with modified pipes and porting. OMG insanity with zero suspension, really light sled

Never seen a water pumper SRV you must of done a conversion on that one. I had a SR 292 motor in a 1976 SRX chassis that I vintage raced for awhile and that thing would haul #*$&@ for a single cyl.

I said it before....Alfa based trail sled. And don't come with the "it will be tippy on the trail" B.S.
I have spoke to a dealer who rode an Alpha on rough trail getting to the hills, said the Alpa skid in the rough stuff was incredible.
it will be like a single swing arm bike, nimble, light
That's my guess

I’m actually more excited for cats release than I think I’ve ever been for any of yamahas releases..
Sucks we HAVE to get excited about Cat but it will be a test of the true relationship Yamaha and Cat have with one another. Is Cat just after Yamaha engines or is Yamaha TRULY a partner or even owner of Cat? If Yamaha sells the same sled Cats releasing next year then we have our answer finally. If not we also have it.
I really liked the Alpha I tried. Its Cats Golden Cow. Best most innovative sled Cat has. This one will for sure be a test of the Yamaha/Cat relationship.

I agree with his analysis, except I think it will be a two stroke of 600cc or less.Very good analysis of the video here:
An economy crossover/mountain sled.

I'm pretty sure that you're right in that the new sled is going to be a 2-stroke. There's a D-handle right in the center of the dash beneath the handlebars just like on their race sleds which would indicate a manual start. I've never seen a pull start on a 4-stroker yet.
