Joe, I plan on getting the SM bundle from Hurricane. What weight are you running in the Dtay1s with the 270 tune? Do you think they can be made to work from 225-270 hp? Or would the QAY70 be a better choice? I don’t want to dick around with buying 2 sets of weights. I will probably be at 240 or 270 most of the time anyway. Also thanks for your posts on the different tunes. You answered many of my questions.

Tested it bone stock to get a baseline, and it was only able to pull 186 HP.
Tested it with the tune bundle in, and the 225 tune pulled 203HP, and the 240 and 270 pulled only 213HP.
Many boost leaks, Stock BOV was junk(leaked like crazy), and had exhaust leaks as well...she just couldn’t make/or hold the boost to make the power.
Took care of all the boost leaks and exhaust leaks and put in a Turbosmart BOV, with the 3 Bar map sensor, and she pulled a lil over 206 HP stock.
And then when tested with the tunes, the 225 and 270 tunes exceeded their HP, and the 240 tune was dead on.
Imo..from what we saw with the Dyno...substantial gains to be had with the 3 bar map sensor and Turbosmart BOV...at least in my situation.
Where was exhaust leak and how did you cure it?

I have this same flash bundle and will test my clutching soon. It is very different than what others are running. I dont like those shallow angle helix's

Major leaks on both ends of the Turbine Inlet pipe; Sealed it with Ultra Copper and let it cure overnight.

let me tell you a story about a sidewinder named “orange you glad” orange for short.
The 270 flash is absolutely bonkers fast mid range right to top. You don’t get bord of this girl.
This flash seems to run big boost right away and keep pulling. Very snappy a snotty. Corner to corner it just works! On and off that’s your decision.
I could not get enough of this machine. Problem was it’s not mine. I had to give it back to a very happy sled owner
Clutching ,we are running dalton springs and weights with a dalton helix and ultimax belt. Shift was very smooth for all the power and clutches ran fairly cool. Not stock cool but no where near ski doo temps.
I seen 120 mph but never had the chance again for another speed run. More was there.
Orange is my new side chick.
Have fun and stay safe.
Joe
Great post. It is surprisingly difficult to get some real world feedback of flash upgrades other than, "It works good!"
It has been an early start to the season here in Northern New Brunswick. Too bad grooming wasn't earlier than Dec.15th.
A few questions if you don't mind?
What do you think of the Ultimax belt as compared to the 8JP and 8DN. I tried the Gates and it didn't hold up well to temperature at all. I ran it on my Viper with Great success but the Sidwinder clutches run hotter. What Ultimax equivalent are you running, 8DN or 8JP.
Are you running stock gearing on both/either the Orange or Blue sled?
Call me crazy but I have an inclination to try a Dalton Helix , straight 45. The Viper was a 45 and it worked well. I wonder if anyone has tried this angle?

All I could say is"it works well" since I have never run stock (flash before even trying it!)...lolGreat post. It is surprisingly difficult to get some real world feedback of flash upgrades other than, "It works good!"

Nice.
Could you give some insight into what you think of it. Throttle response? I ran the stock Helix and switched to a Dalton 33 - 37. The Dalton seems a bit better but throttle response, mid range is still flat in my opinion. My thoughts is the 45 would be more responsive but I am not sure. How were your clutch temps?

The ultmiax xs825 is the belt of choice for myself. Works great on the two sleds we are testing. I got somewhere around 4000 miles on one so far on blue.Great post. It is surprisingly difficult to get some real world feedback of flash upgrades other than, "It works good!"

Straight 45 seems a bit steep but you never know until you try. I won’t call ya crazy. We live to close together lol might see you on the trail

Straight 45 may be steep, the angles compared to a non roller clutch do not work directly. The effect an angle has on a roller vs button secondary are not the same so a 45 on a button viper vs a 45 on a roller sidewinder are not comparable
