I hear ya Joe.....I just have seen this on 6.9s and 5.7s same spot. I guess thats why it worries me.I never thought about that Dan but now that it's there I will go with it. If you look at how I mounted them I have a fully threaded bolt running the whole distance across with nuts and washers tightened on both sides. Maybe they will add some strength where I drilled the holes? I also remember when the Pilots folded in that area but if I remember right it was on the original 5.7 Pilots. Doo redesigned them after that and they don't do it anymore.
Ofcourse if you are not pounding it through deep moguls you wont have any issue. Just keep eye on it brother.

Used the OTTP scratchers all weekend and have no complaints. Seem to kick up a lot of snow. Backing up is not a problem. Cant say they work 100% since we had excellent snow conditions all weekend in the Keweenaw so overheating/hyfax wear wasnt an issue. So far so good.
